Biting puppies - aka ‘crocapups’.

Hi all.

By coincidence, I've just made a blog post about puppy biting. Feel free to take a look / comment / share / completely ignore :dug:

If anybody has any feedback about what else it might be useful to include do please let me know.

So today my SIL and 9 yr old nephew came over, they pop across every 3-4 weeks (lockdown excepted) My nephew loves Bear and thinks he is the bees knees. He's quite a young age nine, and will shriek and run and shout and roll around with him. Bear definitely reacts to this sort of behaviour, he was sooooo much more bitey with him than with us, who he pretty much leaves alone after one go now. Every time, I tell my nephew to stand like a tree, arms up and crossed, and two minutes later he forgets. Hey ho, his scars:devil:. I guess it is just being consistent. I also have pockets full of kibble and just scatter feed to distract him.

And yes - lost another tooth just this afternoon - possibly a day or two too early, pulled out by rough play, as he was pawing at his mouth for a few minutes, and there was a bit of blood and a definite gap in his mouth. No tooth to be found.

Oh Reuben was a shock to the system , he was a terror  Two Labs before , Tess was also dreadful but then Sam never ever did the bitey stuff . I think this is why it took Silas so long to even accept Reuben because playing with him was impossible, in fact entering the house without coming under attack was impossible . I cant remember when it stopped , except that it was quite sudden and oh the joy when it did  . At almost two years old, he can be manic at times but now he is a gentle soft sweet boy , keep the faith xx

Maxx was just awful and we were taken totally unawares. We both looked like our arms and hands were pulled through a barbwire fence backwards. Don't ask about the pot plants and furniture. All the advice above helps and time is your friend. Good luck!

We never saw Hunter's puppy teeth or found it in his pooh?
He still likes to "mouth" me followed by a gentle nip in my neck which I secretly love!
Hunter was really only a little devious crocopup with me and it was me who went to work with the "junkie" hands.
My son and husband did have quite a few holes/tears in socks, jumpers and PJ's but Hunter would launch himself at me .
Don't wear any favourite jeans or clothes.....
Hold in there @Foxy Lady!

We managed to find just one tooth, a sharp canine, how appropriate. In the back of his mouth I can see double sets of teeth - one large and one small - so I think he's still got at least 2-4 to lose. (I assume the big tooth is the new adult tooth, which hasn't quite pushed the much smaller baby tooth out yet? )
But god, the biting and grabbing. At 6am this morning (yeah, thanks Bear, awoken by pitiful sounding cries - though this is every morning, btw) He bit my nose and drew blood, albeit a tiny scratch. Two hours later he bit OH on the cheek. He's jumped up and grabbed my hands, arms, top, trousers sooo many times today I've lost count.
Assume this is still normal at 5 1/2 months? :'(:'(:'(

Oh crumbs - Natalie - Cola still has all his baby teeth and no big ones yet and I am still struggling - 16 weeks old - so I have at least another 6+ weeks of this - Oh no - need to lie down in a darkened room - and breathe - the ones where he dives round the back of me and goes for the back of the legs are particularly painful. This will pass - won't it????

My arms looked like I`d been self harming , legs almost as bad . Reuben was a shocker and a shock to the system as Sam was never a biter , the Lab girl I had before Sam was terrible, even worse than Reuben , if thats possible ! Good thing was that it stopped , eventually , keep the faith there is light at the end of the tunnel xx

You might get a not-norty one! I know Monty wasn't anywhere near as bad as this (though we may be wearing rose tinted glasses, added to the fact we weren't home with him all day every day ). And I know it's no reflection of how they will be as adult dogs... I was just hanging on to it all improving at 18-20 weeks, but clearly we are in for a longer haul. And poor poor Monty who gets it even worse than we do.

Bear lost his first tooth at 15 weeks, so any day for you now @Foxy Lady

Am I right about the back teeth, by the way, that it's normal for the little baby ones to hang on in there whilst the adult ones are already three times the size? I can't even remember checking Monty's mouth at this stage.
