Snowie has a bladder stone. 1.5cm diameter. Urine test showed an infection. Back to the vet on Tuesday for an ultrasound and a needle into the bladder to extract urine directly, then cultured to identify the bacteria so that the right antibiotic can be prescribed.
After 4 weeks he will have another X-ray. If stone reduced in size, then most likely a struvite crystal. If same size, then most likely a calcium stone, which must be removed.
We must immediately start on a struvite diet, which aims to make the urine more acidic and which then dissolves the stone. Also fights infection. Apparently struvite stones are caused by infection.
Snowie is weeing normally. We only know about the stone because he’d been xrayed for constipation and it showed up.
Hoping all you lovely people can share any experience you have. Thank you!
