Blind and search combination

Because of Merlin's hips, I'm always keen to do low-impact dummy training with him, where he doesn't have to do too many marked retrieves, but where we can rather concentrate on blinds, memories or searches. This is a task that we did at training today, sending the dogs on a blind to a small area to be searched. I was happy that Merlin held the line nicely, and that he stayed in the area so well, continuing to search with only one command from me. Good boy.

Oh yes, he'll definitely get to do a bit of picking up!! Going to start training on cold game in the autumn. The good thing is, with two dogs we can always pick and choose which he gets to retrieve, and which ones Poppy can do.
