Canines, Crates, and Coronavirus

Hi

I'm looking to write a blog post about dogs and crates.

Before I do, I wanted to gather some data using a brief (10 multiple-choice questions) survey form which I've added a link to on my home page - Richie's Room

If you could spare a couple of minutes to complete it I'd be very grateful. And do, please, share it with any other dog owners that you know.

Thanks :dug:

Good idea! Is it possible to modify some of the questions? I’ve recently put the crates away, but for some while the dogs still used their crates as their bedtime ‘dens’, without being shut in. Having bought new beds(!), they happily adapted to those, so the crates were no longer used.

For the final two questions there’s no N/A option, whihc would be useful if the crates have already been taken out of use.

Good luck with the blog! :)

I did the survey, but didn't really think I was able to convey how I use a crate with the available answers. While it started as a safe place for Carbon and a place to prevent possible harm to either the house or the dog, that was only at the beginning. Now his crate is just open all the time, but he still uses it a ton because its the softest place nearest to where I work. It's his hang out space. But it's always open at this point - even when I leave the house.

I'm gathering you think that most people will use crates less after corona because they were/are home more?

I did use a crate with Finn for 4 years until he was ‘mature’ enough to sleep on a dog bed. We decrate him gradually. I think a crate has nothing to do with corona or not, it depends on the character of the dog and how you see the use of a crate...

I used a crate when Joy was a pup, but put it away when she was about nine months as she was so settled and fine without it, so I was also unable to complete the survey. (Same problem with question six as @Joy experienced)

Also "If you use a crate, what is the reason for it's use? *" should allow multiple selection (and be phrased in terms of "have or would". Plus kill the apostrophe in "its" ;)
The number of times that I removed that fecking apostrophe (I use Grammarly when there isn't a snowbunny around!) and it keeps putting back again!

Thanks for all of the feedback everybody - I've made the suggested amendments (I think. First-time use of Google Forms.)

I also checked out your excel VBA part!!🤓
Hunter was in a crate from a puppy. No regrets at all and it was his safe/resting place. We used it after his elbow operations to make sure he could rest. At 8 months he seemed more relaxed/comfortable with his foam bed or just the floor so we stopped using the crate. We were also lucky that he didn't trash the home.....well as long as you do not include paper in that statement!
Also when we had him as a puppy my OH was working from home. This allowed us to slowly build up time to leaving him on his own.
Well done with your blog!!
