Christie and Alice

I'm so sorry. I remember you talking about Christie and your special bond. And now Alice so close behind. My belief, which I've shared many times already but here I go again, is that our special animals stay with us for as long as we need them, even if their bodies have worn out and aren't here anymore. This doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye, but hopefully you'll feel the presence of Christie and Alice, running young and free beside you.

How heartbreaking @Heidrun , I'm so sorry you've had to say goodbye to two such dear companions within such a short time. I remember seeing photos of Christie and how he'd still get excited with other horses about, it really struck a cord with remembering elderly horses I've known and loved. And Alice was simply beautiful, thank you for sharing a photo of her. If it helps to talk more about them please do.

As Emily says, I don't think they ever fully leave us until we're ready; and even then, all the things we learn together and they've taught us carry through to the companions we have in future, so their ripples continue ever after. Wishing you much strength and comfort for these difficult early days xxx

I’m so sorry about the loss of your beautiful friends and family members, Alice and Christie.

With you they had everything single thing a dog and horse could ever wish for in life. They’ll always be with you.

I'm so sorry @Heidrun. Two special friends lost in such a short time. 30 years is a long time to live with a loved one, a life time in fact. No wonder your heart is broken.

That is a wonderful photo of Alice with the Clumbers. You're right, her confidence and proud character really shines through.

Thinking of you  x
