Betting you have never seen Marley and Me then @Emily_Babbelhund :giggl:
Haven't seen it, haven't read it, no way no how.

I couldn't even do some sort of animated dog movie on the plane last year. I don't remember what it's called, but it opens all lovely with a dog getting adopted and all the wonderful things he does with his new human. Then she adopts another dog and boots her first dog out of the bedroom so he's all alone in the living room in the dark. Not exactly Dumbo/Black Beauty/Bambi levels of trauma but that was it for me: turned it off and found some other thing to watch.

And no, I've never seen the Lion King either. It's Disney. I'm sure either the father or mother dies in it (don't tell me). What does Disney have against animal parents? :shake:

Come on, have you ever watched Watership Down? Because, you cannot compare the trauma of Bambi’s mother dying (tear-jerking as it was), to... this... 😬😳😱
I'm NOT clicking on that. :speaktothehand:

I had to read Watership Down in school and that was bad enough. Thankfully I remember very little of it, but remember enough not to repeat the experience or (worse!) watch it in movie form.

I need to go to my happy place now:

@Jen The original (‘The Incredible Journey’) is so much better. Just need the tissues at the end when the boy is waiting for the old dog... even if you know it‘s all fine in the end!

Red dog is a good dog film. Red dog dies but saves everyone humanity
I absolutely love that film! Also have the book by the brilliant Louis de Berniere. He wrote 'Captain Correlie's Mandolin ' as well , one of my favourite books of all time. Don't bother with the film though, it changes the ending, is a travesty and a total let down, completely loses the point of the book, and should never have been made.
Pee Ess I didn't enjoy it!
Just to be clear, I mean the film of Captain Correlie's Mandolin, not the film of Red Dog, which is just wonderful. Sorry, flicking between MLF and various friends on a WhatsApp group and have had my Saturday quota of wine!:$

I love Watership Down. One of my fave books ever. The Yearling is also one of my favourite books. I loved Warhorse but found it hard to watch. I actually have a tough time with WWI movies in general because of the poor horses...they didn’t volunteer to be there, the poor things :'(

Anyone see Isle of Dogs? Incredible movie, but definitely NOT a children’s movie.
