I feel sad putting Coco in the Seniors, but he is. He'll be 12 in May and has been gradually slowing up for a couple of years now. Today we went for a 45 minute romp in a field, I do take a ball to play with but restrict the use, particularly with Coco. When we came to leave, he couldn't jump into the car for the first time ever (it's moderately high, Mazda CX5). I had to help him up and let him push off my knee. He's quite a big Boy to be lifting! He seemed to panic a bit when he couldn't get in

Oh feller - that’s a beautiful photo of him it’s tough when our dogs are getting on, and 12 is in the more experienced category - I’m still outraged that 8 is considered a senior dog! I’m guessing maybe a step or ramp is something you’re thinking of.

Yes, Fred will be 12 in March and he has slowed up now. Sleeps a lot too. He still loves his walk , well sniff walks really x

Bless him. It’s a shock when our dogs can’t do what they have been able to do. I’m sure you will adjust his exercise a bit

I had a really good nonslip ramp for Solstice to use after she ruptured her cruciate ligament. It folded up neatly and went in the car everywhere with us. I seem to remember buying it online. It could be worth looking into one of those. It's sad to see our dogs getting older, but it makes them all the more precious to us.

I’m so sorry, it’s so confronting.

I’d catch Snowie behind his back legs as he leapt into the car. It was fairly effortless for me (except having to bend forward, which was awkward sometimes) but it helped Snowie get his back legs up and onto the seat. I never trained him to do this; it just happened naturally. We originally used a ramp, and then a step. But it turned out easier to just catch his bum/backs of his legs.

This is kind of what I was trying yesterday, but his feet were so muddy so we slipped and slid our way up into the boot.

Coco's just had an exciting 30 minute walk where he ranged about on a flexi lead - it was a new to him walk and he was beside himself with scents! He hopped back into the car just fine, so I trimmed his nails
