Conjunctivitis

Stanley still has a bit of conjunctivitis. I think a large part of the problem is because we struggle to get the drops in his eyes so much.

Can you get a cream or a gel does anyone know? That might be easier to get in.

Yes. Coco had conjunctivitis once & we were given a tube of gel. Try the cold tea bags too. I got the tea-girl at work to save me used tea bags in a pot & used them up to 3 times a day in subsequent green discharge episodes.

Thanks! I’ll give the vets a ring tomorrow & see what they say.

His eyes look a lot better but there’s still a bit of gunk & redness going on!

We were given a gel by the vets when Buddy had conjunctivitis recently, sorry I can't remember what it was called and am not at home to be able to check. It was easier as if it didn't go completely in his eye, we could kind of massage it in a bit with clean hands so at least some went in.

@Jen we had gel with Kipper, it sort of liquifies once it’s in the eye and was a lot easier than drops (relatively). Definitely ask your vet. I remember squidging some on the the end of a clean thumb, then distracting with something tasty in the other hand and - approaching the eye from behind his head - gently sweeping the gel into the corner of the eye and along the lid. I got defter with each attempt!

What does the tea-girl do other than make tea? I am intrigued.....
So wonderfully archaic. Like having a secretary to type up your notes. I remember when we only drank tea twice a day at work—10am when the tea lady wheeled the tea trolley around, and again at 3pm. Nowadays I drink coffee or tea at any moment I feel a big task ahead—I’m at the coffee machine/in the kitchen so many times a day!

You can get lots of different types. Gell's are good I keep some in the fridge. Rory has a mild on going allergy to some pollen grass or mold. He gets sore eyes occasionly

Definitely the gel is the easiest. Put on your finger and wipe onto the inside of the bottom lid, then gently pull over the top lid and gently rub it to smear gel around.

I find for irritated eyes that washing with saline is very effective. Sometimes dust gets in their eyes. I have saline drops for my contact lenses, so I use that. If I need to do a good wash, I stir a teaspoon of salt into a liter of boiled water. Let cool. Then pour liberally into eyes so they are completely irrigated. Usually displaces the irritant and eyes get better very quickly.

Hope Stanley feels better soon. My husband enjoys updates about him. Loves his name!

The eyes are getting worse again 😭

I’ve rang the vets and explained I cannot get the drops in and after explaining that no I cannot force them in and no I’m pretty sure they don’t need to see him again they have agreed to prescribe some gel or cream for us to try.

Poor little pink eyed baby 😔

Oh yum! Lucky Stanners :)

OH's mum made them once (she was English) with a baked (roast) dinner and they were delish. I must Google how to make them - or maybe some tips from the experts here please?
