Cooling Mat

I don't have cold tiles in my car but they do work in my kitchen. It only when travelling that I would use a cooling collar or mat.

I'd probably go to B and M / home bargains for a cheap one to see if they like lying on it first, apart from size I would have thought they are all pretty similar in the material the use and the gel inside. If they like it, you could buy multiple or bigger ones. I'm sure mine was only a fiver from there, though it's only medium sized

I would not use the cooling bandana or any other cooling clothing in hot weather. Because while they’re freezing cold at first, they warm up, and then your dog is at risk of over heating.

I agree. I wouldn't be happy using the bandana that the dog can't move away from. Similarly, I would only use the cooling mat if there is enough room for the dog to move away from it, because they are uncomfortable once the cooling effect wears off.

To be honest, I just don't see it as being necessary in a car in the UK. If you have AC and good air flow, plus blinds to stop direct sun, then your car just won't be hot enough for it to be an issue.

I am not using them in the UK only in Europe when it is very hot, not all the time.

If you give your dog the option to lie on the mat or not, you’ll soon see if she likes it or has a need for it. Snowie obviously likes them cos he lies on the mats every night.

I’ve been thinking about getting a cooling mat for Homer this summer. Last summer he got uncomfortableness hot and became very restless at night (me too).

It’s been interesting reading your thought or should I just go for a wet towel and a fan.

That's what I did last year. Annie was OK, but Fred was just too hot. We had 2 fans going for them.
B&M have them for a £5 so I will get one of them and see how it goes. He can sleep on if he wishes or just get up and move under the table on the floor tiles.

I bought a cooling mat for Joy last summer.She wasn't at all impressed and just never chose to go on it.
