Has anyone got a cooling mat for dogs? I am looking for one to put in the car.

I am really looking for one for when we travel in the car. I was told that Maxcare are good, but would like to know if anyone has use one.

Yes. Got two 40x40 for Snowie. He sleeps on them at night—on top of the carpeted bedroom floor. He moves around a lot, to his cushion bed, onto our bed, not stuck on them.

At first they are VERY cold. But they heat up over time from the dog’s body temperature and then can be uncomfortably warm. Best that your dog can choose to be on or off them whenever they want.

Thanks for that. What make (Brand) are they please?

Well has anyone got cooling dog collar? I might as well find out about them too :giggl:

I have no idea, sorry! Bought about 5-6 years ago and still going strong. Duct tape on a few holes from Snowie’s nails. They are very thin with a thick plastic covering.

I threw mine out. As @M.F. says, they are cool at first then get uncomfortably hot. The dogs preferred the cool tiles. I slept on one once on a really hot night; the first few minutes were heaven, but it was horrid once it started to warm up.

I got a couple of cooling mats for Maisy, one for at home and one at work. She barely uses them but at least they are there if she needs them. The first one I bought ended up with a puncture when she stood on it so I now have a huge cotton cover over them to protect them. I have used one myself on my chair when it was really hot last year - very nice.

We have the air con on and the back windows with black sun protectors. I brought a car fan too.

I have a cooling collar, but I have no idea if it’s effective or not! I use it on hot and humid summer days and it stays wet/cool for quite a while.

You can hold it in your hand if the dog is next to you (if you are not driving) or put it on the cage if the dog is travelling in it.

I have 2 cooling mats, one from pets at home and the other from Amazon. They are both really good and Harley goes on them most nights recently as has been too warm on our bed. Im not sure if the cooling bandana actually works as they have so much fur around their necks that I don’t know if it actually gets to their skin.

I would not use the cooling bandana or any other cooling clothing in hot weather. Because while they’re freezing cold at first, they warm up, and then your dog is at risk of over heating.

Agree, cold tiles at home are good enough. But for us, upstairs (where our bedroom is) we have no tiles (even bathroom has wooden floors). So the best we can do are the cooling mats, which Snowie sleeps on every night for some of the night... until he moves on his own accord.

I don't have cold tiles in my car :giggl: but they do work in my kitchen. It only when travelling that I would use a cooling collar or mat.
