Copenhagen dog harness, it's brilliant!

I would have thought you shouldn't let a dog run off lead with any harness on just incase they get caught on something. Charlie's is always removed for off lead. xx
I guess it depends where you are, but I don’t consider it a big consideration. If there are things to be caught, they could also get caught in a collar. Also, lots of people put the ID tags on the harness. I don’t have any issue with dogs free running on harnesses, as long as they don’t restrict the natural movement patterns of the dog.

Different people have different views. Some people change their views over time, too. There’s no right or wrong, just what you think is best given your circumstances. You have to review the evidence (or sense) and make your own mind up. I wouldn’t let my dogs free run in harnesses in thick brush, but I would in an open field.

Weird, that's not what has been written on here before. Confused :confused:x
I know what you mean Helen.
I think you just have to weigh up the pros and cons.
Would I let my dog swim at the beach with a harness? - yes.
Would I let my dog swim in a lake/loch with lots of trees around the perimeter and natural debris? - probably not.
A lot is situational.
A harness can be a boon for helping a dog cover rough ground and rocks.
If your dog is likely to hoon off and be well out of your sight and sound in woodland, I would definitely hesitate a bit.
Its all about assessing personal risk I think.

We currently have a julius K9 but I remember @snowbunny mentioning that they shouldn’t run off lead in them as it puts pressure on the shoulders.
I was looking at the perfect fit but find the website very non user friendly...
We had a K9 @Leanne, which was fine but I did notice a difference in ease of movement when we got the Copenhagen harness. I actually ordered a Perfect Fit harness at the same time and sent it back because it felt a little slim and lightweight for what I was after. I’m pleased, given our lead walking is a work in progress...:)

Ella doesn't tend to venture off the path so I'd probably leave it on during a walk. Also, given that a lot of places we walk are actually supposed to be on-lead only, I need to be able to quickly call Ella back and put her lead on if we spot someone else - not so easy if you have to stop and put the harness on too. I'd probably also leave it on for a splash in the sea or small stream during a walk but I'd take it off for a good swim in the lake. I'd take it off if she had a friend with her and play was likely.

That's just me though :)

Given all this talk about harnesses etc. The copenhage harness seems to be the same as the Haquianna one. Or am I missing something? As we will be looking at ordering one for Honey soon, for now she will just have a soft puppy one. Just thinking ahead..

I think the Haqihana harness is more lightweight and only has the back attachment.

The Copenhagen harness is more heavy duty and has the front and rear attachments.

I think it really comes down to what you're looking for and what suits your dog.
