Diarrhoea

Been to the vets. No real answers. Vet asked if she scavenged and we both said ‘she’s a labrador’ at the same time ?. Well checked over and everything fine as I was confident would be. She has been given Metrohidazole for 5 days. Just looked it up and side effects include diarrhoea!! To keep her on diet of either Hills i/d or rice and turkey plus continue the Pro Kolin. If things don’t improve, then stool samples and possibly Panacur. Fingers crossed this will right itself. All Red’s digestive problems last year have taught me not to immediately rush off to the vets - I think we get to know our animals but I am glad I went.

This is the new vets I registered with a while ago. They were very good and the vet was lovely with Red. Red was great. I took no treats because of the diarrhoea. The vet said she doesn’t believe in starvation unless they have been vomiting.

Fingers crossed , that medication is good , Sam had it a couple of times when he had scavenged . My old Vet believed in starvation , one of the rare things we disagreed on , whereas the newer ones are saying not to starve unless they are sick , let the nasties escape !

I also meant to say, that whilst we were in the waiting room - there was a small dog and as we were getting the medication a big dog came in. Red looked at them, ignored the little one, greeted the older one but then moved away. Very relaxed. Think this is a result of all the A to B work we have been doing. The hyper arousal she has had just isn’t there - good sign.

Sounds great on all fronts. Hopefully the medication will do its job (and won't cause any more squits in the meantime!) and she'll be back on the level soon. And way to go being chilled in the waiting room! :)
