Doggy brags

I need a doggy non-brag thread. Maxx was a bluddy nightmare at training today: lunging, leaping, barking and generally causing severe embarrassment
When we first went to puppy classes Stanley was 15 weeks old.

I sat there surrounded by cavapoos all sat nicely, and I remember gritting my teeth when Stanley bit me so hard I was bleeding and whispering “let go!” Because I didn’t want everyone to think I was a failure puppy mam.

And the trainer said to everyone - that dog will be the hardest work without a doubt (pointing at Stanley) while i was stood there like 😭😭

Oh no I didn’t mean to make it come across as bad.

I was glad they recognised Stanley was hard work because it made me feel like it wasn’t my fault he was a demon!

By the end of the week he got rosette for first place in his little test to pass his good citizen award 😇

Today at dog club, we had about 30 dogs in sit stays. I'd left Ella at about 15m but some others were closer. Anyway, one dog suddenly broke and started doing zoomies, picking up about 20 of the 30 dogs with him. Ella had a quick look in their direction, then looked back at me and remained in her stay while the madness unfolded around her! Amazing!!

I'd have put money on her bring the one to start the madness :wasntme:
I would have been the proudest dog mum in the whole world :inlove:

We had similar this week, on a much smaller scale. All in a circle (abouut 8 dogs) in a sit stay, all owners backed off 5 paces. One broke & zoomed, another 4 went to their owners. Coco, Meg & another dog next to me & Meg maintained their sits. Happy me.

Here's a little brag on Carbon after me outing him as a member of the ball addicts club a couple days ago. About month ago I realised he was getting build up on his molars, mainly because he's no longer eating raw (so no bones). I decided I'd start working with him to scale his teeth with the same dental scaler I'd used successfully with Brogan. I figured it would take weeks - I mean, what dog wants some pointy metal stick shoved under his gums, right?

My plan was to show him the scaler and treat, then let him sniff the scaler and treat, then lightly touch a tooth with the scaler and treat...all over the space of weeks. Turns out he couldn't have cared less and let me scale his teeth right from the get go. As long as I followed a scaling session with delicious liver flavoured tooth paste and a brushing, he was a happy camper.

Now if I forget (or am too lazy to remember) his tooth brushing, he will remind me and is always thrilled to see the scaler, brush and paste come out and have his 'treat' of a brushing. What a good boy! :)

Well done Carbon ! xx
My boast this morning is this x I was up early , Paul and Nelly still in the land of the nod so I decided to give Reuben a village walk for a change, on lead of course . Up the lane on the way out of the village are two little fields, safe for dogs , so we headed there and as we drew closer , I saw a man I know very well with his Springer Spaniel . Its a sad tale , Daves wife died very suddenly about 18 months ago , then Dave took a stroke which left him unable to walk , he uses a mobility scooter whilst his dog walks nicely by his side . I wondered what Reubs would make of the scooter coming towards him , plus another dog but he was brilliant ! He gave a little Woof , then sat quite nicely whilst I had a chat with Dave, steps back in amazement ! We then went into the fields , for him to have a charge around and then headed home , he walked like an angel on his harness all the way back x This may not last, but I`m taking it for now xx

I was very proud of my dogs yesterday. We had 4 guests for the day and they were all besotted by the dogs as the day went on. One couple who are thinking of getting a dog, revised the breed they were thinking of to a Labrador (‘cos they are so easy and mellow’ 😂). The other couple who have two dogs said it would be Labradors next - ‘your dogs don’t bark, ours do all the time’. The couple without a dog really fell for Red and said to her (jokingly!) as they left ‘you’re coming with us’. Especially pleased with Red - we put the dogs in a room whilst we said hello to our guests. When we opened the door, Red rushed out and I watched her greet each person. You could see she wanted to jump but seemed to be saying to herself ‘mustn’t jump’. Instead she sat for a fuss then did her usual sliding onto her back for a tummy rub 😃. ❤

Yes, I can see that. I always felt like Cassie and I were in the naughty corner in the puppy classes I tried. Well I think we were really. I really think that the earlier classes we tried had a very detrimental effect on her attitude to other dogs, especially the one which promoted free play before the class. Disastrous. Plus other owners bringing their dogs over to say "hello" and letting them get all tangled up. I'd be getting very stressed because I didn't want that but desperately didn't want to be rude either because they really were being friendly.

I've said it before so please forgive the repetition. Amber is just so impressive as a diabetic alert dog!!! She has woken me up the last two mornings because my blood sugars have been low ( my diabetes is messed up at the moment. There must be a Y in the day. ). None of the other dogs do this. She will sit with me while I treat the low and wait until my blood sugar rises and then she goes back to sleep. I just can't get over how impressed I am!!!
