Big time thunder and lightening started just before I took Carbon out for his last wee walk. I stick my head out of the front door and hope doesn't freak out, but as soon as we get out in it - no rain just massive booms from thunder and flashes of lightening - I'm completely freaked out and trying to remember if you can get struck by lightening in such situations. I'm a Californian: we don't have thunder and lightening!

Carbon, however, is cool as a cucumber and walking along without a care in the world. He does his wee (with me looking at the tree like it's going to be hit by lightening and murder us at any second), then turns to go along our normal route. "No way, we're going home!" and then grumpy dog face from a dog who has been cooped up all day.

Then another big BOOM and rain starts to torrent down. Guess who suddenly starts to RUN home? Uh huh. My gentleman hates that wet from above. Apparently explosions from the sky are just another 'ho hum' but heaven forbid he get WET.

He makes me laugh, even when I'm about to be murdered by a tree. :cheeky:

I would like to clarify I was laughing at this, and not the fact you almost got murdered by those killer trees :giggl:

And another star for my big boy today . We were on a woodland trail and not too far from being back at the car when down a little path came thundering a young looking GSD , his body language was not good and I could hear his owner calling him, to no avail as he stood looking at me and the dogs , all rigid and tail straight out, ears up and looking like he might be trouble . I scooped Nelly up onto my knee and called Reuben who was standing looking at the dog , he looked to me, then back at the dog who was now advancing slowly and then to my pride , he came straight to me and stood whilst I slipped his lead on whereupon he walked like an angel ( did I really call Reubs an angel ?) back to the car . The owner of the young dog appeared eventually and did apologise , saying that his dog wasnt good with others, but oh my goodness , how proud I was of Reuben x

Over the last few days we've been getting Kipper (and us) used to using a ramp, and he's just gently trotted up it into the back of the car, turned, waited at the top for an 'okay!' as we've been practising, and gently back down again. He's a blimmin' marvel this boy.
well done, it's not easy!
Monty mastered a sturdy wooden one we had, but completely hates the newer plastic one we bought more recently. We are resorting to lifting him in and out of the car now.

This afternoon, out on the trail , I spotted a couple and their son walking towards us , the son hid behind his parents so I called Reuben up and slipped his lead on . He is brilliant at walking slowly beside the scooter and as the family drew level , they thanked me for what I did and asked directions to Herodsfoot village just a mile away . As they walked away, the man turned round and said ` Thanks again , our son is autistic and afraid of dogs, but cant you just tell that yours is a trained assistance dog ! ` Wow , Reuben , praise indeed ! Just for interest, this is the pretty little Church in Herodsfoot x

Thank you, and I feel for you on the ramp - it’s a bit of a gamble isn’t it? there’s not much helpful advice out there and they all look similar. We’ve been lucky so far after a lot of research, it’s unwieldy but very stable (top priority for us as I know Kipper would hate it if it wobbled) and pretty light. I hope you’re okay with the lifting.
