Doggy brags

Well done @Molly

My brag this morning - coming back through the woods, I could see a neighbour who was struggling with his 2 very reactive dogs. They were on lead and pulling him through the mud!! I didn’t want to pass them - the path is narrow and a mud bath. Red and I stepped off the path and I asked for a ‘sit, stay’. She did beautifully as they passed by. I love watching Red and the decisions she is making

Took Otter out today to our local nature reserve. OH had got there a few mins earlier, so he was just ahead of me. The plan being for us to catch up once I had worked a bit with Otter first.
Well,it didn't go quite according to plan. She hurtled out of the back of the car, I tried to grab the end of the lead, but ended up grabbing thin air. She runs up to the entrance, my heart is sinking....a couple with 2 muddy golden retrievers materialise. Oh Gawd. I try the recall whistle (wassat??) One of the dog owners calls out "shall I grab her lead?" I must've looked a bit surprised, he takes her lead anyhow, and leans over to give Otter a playful pat. She is happily bouncing around. I am stunned. They walk towards me, give me a smile, I take Otter, and that was that. I just can't express how wonderful such a normal exchange made me feel :sun::sun:. @Mr Beanwood later commented that he heard my frantic whistle recall, I think he was feeling quite smug.:hmm:

I had a bit of a revelation last night. My Dad was over and I had been showing him some videos of the great-grandkids that my sister sent. I got up and left my phone and my glasses on the couch next to him. He said 'hey, are they safe with Maxx around?' and I realised yes they were! Not so long ago Maxx would have grabbed both items and run off for a chew. He does still nick a few things sometimes like tea-towels off the oven and thongs (flip flops) if they are left around but he isn't the counter-surfer he once was. Progress!!
