Doggy brags

Super proud of Neo tonight - normally he goes in his crate while we eat our evening meal as he sometimes struggles to settle, particularly around food, resulting in a lot of lukewarm dinners. I’ve been working with him on capturing calm and settling on his bed and tonight thought I would see what would happen if I didn’t crate him……

He chose to settle on his bed without any suggestion from me and didn’t get up once, it’s a miracle!
(please excuse my poor meal choice, OH is staying away with work so I was left to my own devices)
That's great @Parodius , very well done! Good boy Neo 😇

I absolutely have to have a doggy brag thisevening!
Joy and I did quite a long towpath walk today, which can involve a fair bit of contact with cyclists and runners. She's pretty good at 'Sit and stay ' but today she managed something more complicated and was just brilliant. We were on a cycle track that runs parallel with the towpath, at the top of a slope leading down a particularly narrow bit when I saw a cyclist approaching. There wasn't room on the narrow stretch for us to pass him and Joy was a little way ahead of me, so I needed to get her to come back, walk by my side down the slope, move into the little gap at the bottom of the slope and sit there while the cyclist went past, four things all in all. I called 'Joy, Come!' and she did. Then 'With me!' she walked by my side down the slope. Then 'Here, here!' (pointing to where I wanted her to go) she went there, Then 'Sit and stay!' which she did absolutely perfectly. The cyclist nodded at me and said just three words, 'Wow! Impressive! Thankyou!'
I don't think I've ever been prouder of her or any other dog. It all happened so quickly and she was so instantly responsive. Of course she got loads of praise and treats and she seemed very pleased with herself. She really does seem to like being GoodGirlJoy and it's such a pleasure to walk her when she's like this. She has made my day!:inlove:

The past 2 days, early evening, Harley and I have gone on our local mooch around the neighbourhood. Usually we always bump into other dogs (usually small happy ones) and it ends up with Harley getting stressed and reactive due to the dogs barking aggressively or owners allowing their non aggressive barking dogs come too close even when we move out into the road.
Well, yesterday was a pair of dogs (small JR X) came around the corner and both yanked their owners very close to us baring teeth and being very aggressive. We quickly moved into the road and Harley just looked at me as of to say ‘what’s their problem’. I was so proud.
Then tonight, walking down the dual carriageway came an older gentleman with his small brown fluffy dog (don’t have a clue what breed). The road was busy so I moved onto the driveway of a B&B to get out of the way and got Harley to sit just behind me as the dog was barking constantly. As they reached us the man let his dog go to the end of his extending lead and jump on Harley. My heart went…….Harley just sat there staring at me. I grabbed the lead of the dog to pull it away from her and the man started shouting at me to leave his dog alone as I would hurt him and he was just showing my dog that he was ‘the boss’ and that he done it to all dogs. Really!! I said he was lucky that my dog didn’t react as could really hurt him and that he needs to control his dog. His response - if your dog hurt mine I would beat it:punch: I was savage, but decided that I needed to get Harley away from this idiot. We walked away and Harley just looked at me as if to say ‘was I good mum’. I gave her so much praise and she got a special treat when we got home. I am so proud of how her reactivity is getting better.

Veryvery well done Harley and well done you too, for all the work you've put in to help her. The man is clearly a complete idiot, not a clue about dogs but for some reason thinks he knows it all.

Not really a brag but I was so proud of Reuben yesterday  He is such a kind boy , gave up his bed for Carbon , plus his place on the sofa next to me and shared his toys and treats . He can be such a loon at times but hey , three year old Labrador is allowed to be completely silly , its his kindness that I love so much xxx
