Doggy brags

My OH is away this week (not working for a change.....on a golf course in Turkey!) so I’m walking Harley every night (she’s with my dog walker every day). She has been amazing, especially as I’ve been struggling with my back and legs. Today she said hello to a lab then kept walking by my side. The lab followed and its brother/sister collie came running over and Harley ignored them both 😍. Shes also been giving me extra snuggles today ❤

Just loved my walk today, just with Benson and Bramble. @Mr Beanwood was home and treated Casper to an impromptu training session. So I took Bramble and Benson to Snuff Mills, usually a fairly busy, and sometimes a bit unpredictable in terms of other dogs, but a lovely place to walk. Benson was full of beans, racing around and sooo full of the joys of spring! Bramble was in such an effervescent mood, bubbly and flirty, bum tucking with every dog she met, from teeny, weeny racy whippet to cheeky pointer and a grizzly white German Sheppard who also joined in the fun. Loved watching them all. Not really a brag, just enjoying the sheer pleasure of walking dogs, and meeting some really nice owners and their gorgeous dogs on our ramble. :inlove:

Yes, that's always so lovely isn't it? I have a similar thing with what I have come to think of as 'The Copley Crew', all lovely dogs who play well together, accompanied by people who are out in all weathers and who are also kind and concerned for each other and all the dogs. A happy gathering!

It was such a good walk. The cyclists were all helpful, tinkling their bells when coming up behind us. I used this as an opportunity to practice whistle stops. Benson and Bramble would then sit, and wait patiently until the cyclist passed. With Bramble, I just used my hand to direct her off the path, then blew stop with hand raised for sit. Benson just sat down where ever he was, OK in the middle of the path wasn't quite so helpful!

Also, not really a brag, just comforting steady progress.

Molly is mostly easy to walk with. She is very good with other dogs and will just walk past and ignore when it becomes clear another dog is not in a communicative mood. I think she has learned this from the farm JR who is a temperamental chap and makes it very clear when he's not in playful mode.
Her recall is also excellent. Still just the one irritating problem - if she gets a bit excited, she will still jump up at anyone who talks to her, and try to lick their face. Very frustrating when otherwise she is brilliant and an utter joy to be with.

Just had our morning walk and feel like sharing a moment.

Maisy was sniffing at something and just about to roll in it. Her shoulder went down but I managed to call her before totally committed and she actually stopped as she was going down, looked at me, I called her again and she came bounding towards me. Sigh of relief.
The first time she has taken notice of me when about to roll.

I like to think it could have been fox poo as that would have been really well avoided, but it was probably only a worm.

Spencer’s recall was top notch in the park today. It’s pouring down and set in for the day - so I think people who, like me, usually go further afield were there. There were loads of people and dogs. At one point he spotted a dog I hadn’t seen, on lead and heading out of the park. He galloped, I blew the whistle and he turned on a sixpence and came back.

Huge rewards!

I came out of the park with a big grin on my face despite the rain.

Have to say feeling really proud of my girls. They have just had a week at the kennels. I was very concerned about Sky - her arthritis and her recently slightly unpredictable bowel habits. Anyway they have been together and the kennel staff said they were brill and a pleasure to have 😆. This makes me so happy. Feels like a win win all round. The kennels post photos and bits of video on their fb page so I do get to see them which I like (but I don’t look at my phone much so just catching up on that). Both dogs are very chilled and have just slotted back into their routines ❤

We are down in Plymouth visiting our daughter and I was really wary yesterday taking Harley to the local woods by myself, but she was amazing. Stopped dead every time I called her, ignored a collie and 2 husky/malamutes and didn’t go far. We then drove to the garage and I got a puncture! Had to wait over an hour for a tyre garage to come out, and she sat so nicely in the car. My daughter picked Harley up as I knew it would take ages (took 4 hours in the end as my car tyres are a rare size!).
Today we all went out (me, my daughter and her OH) and we seen the collie again, and Harley ignored her again. We met a gorgeous lab who is 2 years old so they had a fantastic play for half hour as we were walking. She has amazed me since weve been down here 😍.
