Dogs in cars

Pongo rides in the back seat of my little Fiesta, there is a hammock-style dog seat cover there. I don't strap him in.
If I leave him there (especially when we're trailing) and he gets impatient, he occasionally decides to wiggle and jump his way into the front. Never the passenger seat, always the driver's seat. I just hope he never figures out where the ignition button is.

Thanks everyone.

It seems the best thing to do is restrain Stanley in the back somehow so they can’t get to each other.

Because it’s at the stage where Rory just wants to grab every inch of Stanley 😂

I sit in the front of Maisy's car, where every chauffeur sits.

Maisy has the back seat and there is a guard between the front seats so she doesn't fly forward if I brake sharp. Also I have filled the footwells in the back with cushions so she can't trip forward and hurt her legs. The back is a total dog zone - no hoomans allowed. She once sat on the front seat which worried me as she had no harness on but she wouldn't move (it was a really hot day and she crawled in and refused to move), she then lay right over the handbrake and gear stick. It was quite a drive home that day.

Is there a barrier you could put in the back between Rory and Stanley? Maybe a big cushion or a box, something to stop little fingers reaching across?

@jazzmynn what ramp do you use?
Hunter goes in the boot. I lift him with paws on first. On holiday he travels in the back seat with my son and I have a seat extender to fill the space between the front and back seat.

I bought the cushion in the sale.
We have a telescoping one, with one Section sliding into the other for easy stowage in my Grand Cherokee. I’ll check the brand and let you know.

We have to lift the pups in until they are six months old, then they put their paws up and we lift their beck end in. No jumping in and out until they are twelve months old.

Quinn sometimes rides up front, my airbag automatically deactivates and she’s harnessed in. I would think the back seat is fine if you harness and belt him in beside Rory. I can imagine future Rory eating snacks back there and Stanley getting some as well 😂

In the old car Vanilla was like the Queen. Back seat, pawn on the arm rest head put of window at low speed. She was in car harness, but when waiting for OH she would just be like this...

New car are in boot with ramp and crate by TransK9. They adapted quickly, surprisingly.

Homer travels in the boot of of our Volvo x60. All the luggage goes on the back seat. I would like an extra guard between the boot door and Homer.

At Mantrailing the trainer has a crashtested crate but in my opinion it’s quite small and there’s a lot of wasted space around it but I can see how much more safer it is.
