My cousin and I spent Tuesday in the National Gallery and found all the dogs in the paintings! pictures will follow.

What a phenomenal way to spend an afternoon! I love seeing how breeds have changed over the years - like pugs with longer muzzles back in the 1700s. Fascinating.There were many different types, not any Labradors but then most of the paintings were more than 200 years old.
Lots of smaller companion dogs and then hunting or working dogs like spaniel Types. It would be interesting to do a more in depth study.

We just made it up. We both spotted the dogs in the first few paintings in the first room then that was it- our dog hunt began.
