Echo - Guide Dog

I took Echo on a free run to one of our local reservoirs today.

I‘m very happy to say he was super. Really well behaved, galloped around but stayed in view. He met six dogs all told, one a young pup. He played appropriately and came away each time when I whistled.

What a huge relief! Having those purses emptied really has taken a weight off his mind!

We have this big, quiet field just three minutes walk from us. It’s a common so well kept. Now that Echo’s recall is up to scratch we go there early every morning. We’ve been every day this week and not yet met another dog. The surrounding houses are in a very Asian area - so no dogs. He’s wearing a harness for peace of mind for me, in case we meet a dog and I can’t hold him. Don’t tell my supervisor, it’s ’illegal’! He’s such a good boy at having it put on, he comes and sticks his head through, no invitation. So I’m not worried about causing a harness problem (which is why it’s illegal, it’s really important that they accept and like the guiding harness).

I walk round the field and he has a good gallop.

It‘s great, sets us both up for the day. 🙂😀

Then we have two training walks, one morning and one afternoon. He’s really top notch in town centres now. I suspect, if he didn’t make it as a guide dog, it would be for dog distraction. He has no other issues at all. Good boy. 🥰
