Can't you have a smaller cover just to throw over him so he doesn't have to move. It does need to be big.
Annie has one for when she is on the sofa to keep her warm, poor thing isn't life hard :giggl:
He likes to be plastered to my back or leg, so the whole point (to him) is to be under the covers with me. If it's just him by himself, he's quite happy on top of the blanket or duvet. :)

Toby has to be in full body contact under the cover with me too. He will wake me up if something isn't right with the bed.
Toby is the best cuddler EVER.

How do those of you that have the dog in the bed, cope with all the hairs!
Carbon doesn't shed a ton most of the year. But I have my whole system of daily shaking out the duvet, then shaking out and 'squeegeeing' the bottom fitted sheet. I do the same with the pillows, though Carbon has his own pillow. I also change the sheets a lot.

We have an old sheet that we put on top of the doona that he lies on, but seriously we might as well not bother. I had to buy a doona cover that was satiny because the textured one trapped the hair and it would wind itself in and I would spend endless hours vacuuming the bl**dy thing. Now the roller does the job nicely but it is still a chore.

We are trying to wean him off our bed(s) for this very reason. I'm sorry I relented at all

Sorry, Mags, this is going way off of sweet Echo, but another tip for us doggie in the bed people: double fitted bottom sheet and double duvet covers. I discovered this with all the traveling I do. If I double (or even triple) the bottom sheet, it means that the mattress cover stays totally fur free. Those things are awful for having to get fur out of because of the texture. Doubling the duvet cover does the same - you're never picking fur out of the actual duvet. Which is something I used to do using duct tape and tweezers. No bueno!

Boogie was the last of our dogs allowed upstairs. He slept on the bed.

We have a baby gate at the top of the stairs now, if we leave it open then both get very excited exploring!
