Finn is in pain

Update on Finn!

We went to the vet and he was very much in pain. Couldn’t get in the car.
Vet checked him and said he was full of poo and pee. I told her that was the reason for me to come. He got pain relief, blood was taken and she punctured his bladder for some urine to check. While we were waiting for the results I walked Finn so that he could pee and poo under painkiller. He weed for 5 minutes! After he did all, we went back for the results. Blood was taken to see if he had hypothyroidism. Results were normal. She found some blood in the urine and his ph was high. Indicated urine infection. Then she examined him again and found his lower back was hurting him terribly. He is now on novacam and clavubactin, an antibiotic. See how it goes. When it doesn’t clear up and be his perky self I have to take him back for further investigation

So sorry to hear. Could he have hurt his lower spine? Shaking back legs could be related to lower back pinched nerve.

Do you think the blood in the urine was from how the sample was taken: pierced his bladder to take it? I’d clarify with the vet.

Hope Finn feels better soon.

Oh poor boy I am sorry. Sounds like maybe the pain in his back made him feel unable to pee or poo...

Piercing the bladder to take a sample sounds a bit extreme, especially since he could wee once he had had the painkillers.

Thank you all for the well wishes and comforting words! I am still worried though. He still isn’t well. I don’t know how long it takes for the meds kicks in. He got an injection at 9:15, I would say it should work by now...? He is still in pain. Didn’t want to go out and after a bit of pushing he decided to come. I could see he still has a lot of pain. I think I give the vet another call after lunch hours.....:'(

I think he hurt his lower spine. He walks the same as Euan did. He yelled the same as Euan when he twisted his back. The blood in the urine wasn’t from how it was taken. I was there and saw she doing it. The urine was visible clear, nonetheless bloody with outcome....

She could very well feel his bladder and wanted a sample. She punctured it while it was the cleanest way getting some urine. She told me that if she put a catheter in he would probably have a massive infection.
The pain medication doesn’t do their work yet. He is still in pain and won’t urinate. Eating and drinking after the vets visit we’re fine.

Poor little dog, just awful. I seem to remember reading that he jumped in a muddy puddle yesterday - any chance he may have damaged something then, or there was something in the water?
I do hope he gets some relief soon x
Yes he did. My thoughts were he had a strain somewhere. He played yesterday and jumped in a muddy pool. I think that that was too much and that he already had an underlying problem. Two weeks ago he went with the dog walkers and had played too with other dogs, and no pain
