I am off work today....Me & Coco are going to catch the train to the pub, have lunch, and walk back. HAVE LUNCH! Just me & Coco. This could be hilarious, embarrassing or it could be a non-event.
Work on a 'settle' @Shaz82 and practice in different places. It does get better ?. I always have a chew for Juno with me as well so when our lunch arrives, she gets hers. I also have her travel water bowl and a bottle of water for if we're in a pub garden so we don't have to hunt for a drink of quite often less than clean fresh water.
It would be the train bit that, I imagine, would freak Tatze out
In order for them not to be interested when you are eating you need to never ever ever feed them anything when you are eating.
.
You know what? My dogs have never been fed from our plates, but they're opportunistic and sit and will sit and watch us eat if we allow it. I'm totally lazy with "pet" behaviours in general; I find them pretty boring to train so I don't bother. Could I teach them not to sit there? That dinner time was a cue to leave us alone? Yes, of course. But I just can't be arsedHa, ha, ha, ha, that was all part of my training plan! But live with an OH like mine who feeds her the last bits of his meal from the table, it is an absolute nightmare, yes we have argued, and argued and frankly if he gave me that ultimatum I would have chosen 'the dog', my life would be so much easier.
