Straight back to the vet after I'd rung them! No harm done, not charged for the new dressing. They're struggling between getting it tight enough to stay on but not uncomfortable, which I understand completely. I really can't fault them, to be fair. Back on Friday for another dressing change. The good news is no infection, just a very deep gash. We're both bored! Our main source of entertainment is currently the stove fitting man! Joy absolutely loves him and it's looking pretty mutual. That's a help at least.

Eee she’s a little tinker.

Maybe she has a crush on the vet so that’s why she keeps going back 🥰
If anything the vet has a crush on Joy! Ever since he first met her as a puppy he has been threatening to steal her. He has admitted that Maud, his own black Lab might not be impressed though. His wife, who works on reception, has shown me photos of Maud. She's ten now, but looks very similar to my GGJ, just slightly bigger. Can't wait to get this paw healed, we're used to being out and about!

It’s so frustrating that they can’t understand that it’s all for their own good. It took six weeks for Tuppence’s cut leg to heal, so the minimal exercise was a bit of a challenge!

Paw injuries are SO annoying...hope it heals without any further issues. She is a sneaky madam, isn’t she?? I can totally relate, Simba was the same. He had to have a huge cone to stop him. Great fun. Not. :veryconfused:

GGJ has just made the vet's day! Not only did she wag at him and accept treats from his hand, she also gave his face a good licking. He was delighted and said 'This is the relationship I've always wanted to have with Joy!' He did then add that it was a shame she had to cut her paw in order for this to happen. He was also very happy with how her wound is healing now. She still needs a dressing, so continues to have to wear the cone and inflatable collar but at least it's all heading in the right direction. I wanted to see if she would lie down for me to put her Pawz protector on like she does at home ( makes it much easier). She wouldn't do it with the vet there but when he'd left the room she did. It's good to see her becoming a little less anxious at the vet's, my GoodGirl!

So glad her wound is healing well. I understand your frustration with boredom as been through it many times with Harley. Hope you are back on walks soon x

Well done Joy, I hope you are allowed out to the pub tonight?

I won't go tonight, haven't been since she cut her paw. I don't like the thought of taking her down with the cone on as it's likely to cause people to come and make a fuss of her and she's not always happy with this particularly if they're men who she doesn't know and even less happy if they're a bit drunk. I daren't take her without the cone as I will be distracted by talking to people and as we have seen she can whip a bandage off in a matter of a few minutes! I'm not happy leaving her alone with the cone on as she still sometimes gets stuck in places with it and I could never forgive myself if she re opened her wound or injured herself in any way just because I was in the pub. BAD MOTHER!:speaktothehand: So definitely no pub until she's in the clear. I will however be partaking of a glass or so of something nice and red with the remains of my braised steak and Joy and I have both been invited to a friend's house for a meal tomorrow evening so all is not lost!:dug::clap::happyfeet:

Back to the vet thismorning, the last stitch has been removed and the bandage is off!:dug: The vet was very pleased with how well it's healed but the keratin on her pad has to grow back so she still needs a boot to protect it when she's out walking and must not be allowed to lick it too much which means she will still need to wear the cone when I can't closely supervise her. Apparently it is likely to take about four weeks to grow back fully, so we should have a new paw for Christmas!:santa:
