Gizmo is hospitalized

I’m so sorry. I hope he makes a big leap forward in his recovery. He’s such a darling kitty.

Did they do a liver enzyme test?

I feel like they did, they ran soooo many blood panels I couldn’t keep up. But I will ask them tomorrow when they call to check on Gizmo

Thank you everyone for all the well wishes for Gizmo, it really helps ❤

New update..

Giz is now home. I was able to pick him up today. His catheter slipped out this morning at 630 and they could not get it back in anywhere. The poor little guy is so bruised so they left it alone. They did more blood work at 12 to see how he did with no IV fluids for 5 ish hours and he went from 3.9 down to 3.7 so not bad. Still in normal range. so because he no longer was on fluids they said he could come home and rest here. They didn’t do more blood work because of how sore he is but if he worsens over night then they will do blood work tomorrow.

I am to give him potassium supplement three times a day, it’s a liquid and I have to syringe it in to his mouth... can’t wait 😳

his head still hangs low, so his jumping up skills are quite poor. Very awkward when he jumps on the counter. Soft surfaces that are lower he’s ok with. His walk has improved but still a bit stiff. But he doesn’t look drunk anymore, just more cautious. He doesn’t want to sleep on my lap like usual so that breaks my heart, he also hasn’t purred once 😭

I have the next four days off to be with him so I’ll be able to monitor him closely. I do have to walk axel still so that makes me nervous to leave Gizmo :(

ultrasound hopefully will be done next week, depending on that result CT is next.

I hope he continues to improve at home. He should feel less stressed there, especially with Axel for company, so maybe that will help. :thelambiesarecoming:

I had a patient a bit like that last week who turned out to have some kind of rheumatological disorder. Not exactly sure what as get. Not sure that would explain the potassium and he would definitely have raised inflammatory markers.
:(

Poor precious kitty. I guess he just wants to rest as much as possible. Can you massage him? Will he let you?
I tried giving his neck a massage last night, because I wondered if he’s super tight and sore. He let me for a bit but he was quite distant all of yesterday.

I actually got woken up this morning by Gizmo purring and snuggling in for pets ❤❤❤ Not sure how his neurological issues are yet as it’s very dark in my room (shift worker) and I just want to enjoy some morning cuddles with my boy ❤

If his neck is too sore, perhaps light massage down his spine, his legs, everywhere else, will relax him and perhaps provide good nerve stimulation.

So pleased he’s got his purrrrrr back!
