Guard dog on duty- Good boy, Shamas!

Shamas asked to be let out back earlier today, and when hubby let him out, he left the house just as an intruder landed in our yard after hopping the 5 foot fence at the end. Shamas shot out of the door and made a good old racket, and the intruder was over that fence as fast as you can imagine, with a black snarling monster on his way down the yard!

He snarled at the fence for a minute or so, then sauntered back to the house, very pleased with himself.

Good thing we have such a long yard, the guy had plenty of time to get back over the fence :cwl:

Daddy gave him cheese for a job well done.

How terrifying @Shamas mom! Do you think he was going to break into your house?

What a good boy Shamas!
No, we think he had ideas of cutting through our yard to get from the street behind us to the one we live on. or take shelter from the heat in our shed, which has had squatter before, due to the broken door.

Why he wouldn't go just a couple of houses further down, and walk through an open lot is beyond me, but I guess he'll think twice before hopping this fence again.

Perhaps we'll make a nice Beware of dog sign facing over the fence as a deterrent to people who can't be bothered to walk 100 more feet

Well done Shamas, it doesn't hurt to let everyone know there is a big shouty dog in the house and you must feel safer with him there too.
Glad they didn't frighten you, he won't be coming back anyway.

Exactly

We wanted a dog when hubby went on nights..not a rip-your-arm-off-when-you-come-in-the-window dog, but a bark-his-head-off-to-scare-you dog

Shamas falls quite neatly into the second category. We honestly think there's a 50/50 chance if the man had still been in the yard by the time he'd got there, Shamas would have been a bit thrown off and unsure of how to proceed...definitely he'd be relying on us to finish the job. Probably bark and drool all over the man.

He's quite used to protecting his yard from cats, squirrels, etc. But nothing has EVER been there when he got to it. And even though he's been right on the tails of cats a few times, he's not bitten- he nearly caught one and shoved his face into its belly, barking. It doesn't come over anymore, thankfully

Shamas is all for the chase
