Poor @Naya , how horribly stressful. Little sausage looks a bit sorry in her cone, but thank goodness you went for that option - hopefully she’ll be back on form in a few short days xx

Just got home (traffic was a nightmare). Harley is ok, but tired. The nail was worse than they thought. It has mud and other stuff which has gotten under the nail which caused a bad infection which smelled really bad, so good that she had the op today. The nail was split in 3 places too! They had to peel the nail off in small pieces as it wouldn’t come out easily. She had some food as soon as she got home which she loved. Apparently she wouldn’t take any food from anyone there 😢. She’s currently led on the floor giving me sad puppy dog eyes. She’s got antibiotics and metacam for 5 days and we have to go back Friday for them to recheck it.
@Selina27 i did have a look and ordered some last night. Thank you x
Ah, sweetheart - so glad to hear that nasty nail is gone gone gone. It is all upward from here. Well done for taking her in; it was absolutely the right thing to do. She won't like the cone but if it helps the healing it is worth it - even if she doesn't understand. Look after yourself, too, @Naya - you are a great hooman for your girl and are doing all the right stuff. Pongo sends licks and I'm sending hugs.

Thanks all. Bathing her paw in hibiscrub was fun......lots of treats but I still got soaked 😂. We had a bit of a restless night, but I think that was the sedation. We took the cone of shame off to go to bed and put a sock on and she was really good. I was home most of the day and I took off the cone and sock and she went to lick it once but i managed to distract her. Her new soft collar and boots have arrived today, we will try them out later. She went with her dog walker at lunchtime with one of her old boots. He said she was really good, but the boot fell off once. He said his youngest dog kept trying to get her to chase him, but he managed to intervene. Harley happily mooched around with her friends and enjoyed it. Her boot was sopping when she came back so I’m looking forward to trying out the new ones later. My OH is home all day tomorrow as I have a conference to host and can’t get anyone to do it for me. Vets at 5pm tomorrow for a check up.
