Homer’s got a wound on his leg.

I noticed this on Homer’s back left leg. He gets rubbed down regularly and I don’t think it was there yesterday. He might have been licking it last night but hasn’t been fussing about it much today. On our walk he was favouring that leg slightly and limped a few times.
There’s a button sized raised area that’s red with a small raw patch.

There's not Alabama rot in our area that I know of. There was reports of a case a few miles away on Wimbledon Common but not in Putney. There has been Alabama rot in Surrey but we haven't been there for weeks.

I don't think it's a wound, it's mare like a little swollen lump that he's licked a lot but I haven't seen him lick it much.

Yes, you're right to get it looked at, at least online to start off with. I think the hair looks well worn down, like it's been licked/chewed, but better safe than sorry. It's so difficult at the moment, wanting to do best by our dogs but still be socially responsible. Shadow got a(nother) nasty cut on his (other) foot. He'd have been straight to the vet normally, as I think it was borderline stitches, but with them only taking emergencies, we just had to take advice, which was to clean it, wrap it when we were out, and watch out for signs of infection. Happily, it's healing well, and he's not bothered by it in the slightest.

I hope Homer is OK.

Do you remeber Annie leg Thread Annie photo 22 December 2019....Sorry can't find the photo.

It looked just like Homer's. Go to the vets. She had to have some cream and stay in till it dry up. It took over two weeks.

Annie leg look pink on the photo, but it was blood red. I think it must of been the flash.

What did your bil think? Snowie has similar on his side. I only noticed it about a week ago but pretty sure it’s been there much longer cos he was scratching the area with his hind leg for a while. I used various disinfectants to clean it (at different times—whatever I had at hand in the room I happened to be in when Snowie would lie still long enough for me to get a look (difficult to find in all his fur!)—Apple cider vinegar, colloidal silver, antifungal cream). It has cleared up nicely and he’s a lot less itchy. To me it looked like an insect bite cos there was a darker central spot although no raised edges, and then a wider wetter spot, bald from scratching. If it had not improved I’d have called the vet.
