Theres this woman who comes to Golitha every morning , she has a very large unruly GSD and three Border Collies . She is a nice enough person but , she encourages Reuben to run to her and says she doesnt mind him jumping up, well I do !
I have been working really hard on the jumping and its finally paying off , most of the time so I do ask friends to ignore the boy , dont give him any excuse to go manic . This morning we got there before her , and had a pretty short walk in the shade , Nelly pottered and the lad had a good old splash about until he found a very dead stiff squirrel which he flung around in glee, finally giving it up for his ball . On leads and almost back at the car, she pulls up in her car next to ours , I felt the tension in the lead as she shouted out to him . I called back and asked her to please ignore him , to which she replied " OK but I just want to come and fuss him first " . I hate confrontation , and would do anything to avoid it but I did ask her politely again to ignore him , completely as I didnt want him to lunge which he would have done if she had come to us . She took the hump, big style , huffing and puffing , muttering that I was encouraging Reuben to be anti social and was being ridiculous . I told her that it was nothing personal , just that he is a strong lad and so it was of prime importance to me that he didnt pull me over ! If looks could kill I would be long gone , maybe I am being a bit silly x
