I may be regretting this post but here goes

I have noticed a big difference in Reuben over the past month or so , he is coming up to two and a half years old so dare I think he is growing up ? He seems to want to stay closer, is happier to stay closer and ( this is the bit I might regret saying ! ) he hasnt shown any inclination to self reward by hunting  He seems to be calmer in general , has become very bonded indeed . Of course having Kennel Cough meant that we did do lots more play/training at home , so probably this has contributed but he has definitely changed . The other day, I went to load the bird table in the front garden and didnt close the door behind me , he poked his head out and spotted Debbie putting her bin out , legged it over to see her but the moment I called him, he ran back , no hesitation, has someone swapped my boy for a calm one ? This afternoon we are off for a long walk , its cold but sunny and dry , I may well be posting a void on this thread when I get home

The thing I love most about Labs is how they can be eminently sensible one minute and totally ridiculous the next, even into their dotage. Iโ€™m sure Reuben still has plenty of mischief up his sleeve to pull out when you least expect it ๐Ÿ˜
This. Every time I post some sort of brag he turns around the next day and does something so completely idiotic and embarrassing.

Not that Reuben is going to do that Kate, honest!

Exactly. On my way back to the car after walking the dogs at a local golf club with my son this morning I noticed someone on the other side of the lane being towed towards us by a chocolate lab. My heart was in my mouth, as I thought Wispa would react to the lively-looking choccy, who was staring at my two as he pulled his owner along. Tuppence completely ignored him as they passed... and Wispa did too. The owner called out that she wished hers was as calm and good as my two. If only she knew...! It would have been different if we had been on our way to the golf club!

Well done, Reuben! Iโ€™m sure heโ€™ll still be full of energy, though, Kate!

This right here ^^

Shamas is beautiful on the way TO Tim Hortons, but on the way HOME he still drags me all the way. We do all of our training on the way out because I know he can't listen with home on the horizon.

@kateincornwall this is great news about Reuben--Perhaps he's settling down now that he's had a chance to bond over some ilness-imposed "me time"
I know that winter-imposed bonding helps Shamas improve his behavior :)

This had me laugh, โ€˜being towed by a choc labโ€™. I will forever wonder now if this is how others see me and Storm. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Wonderful to read @kateincornwall! Well done Reubs! Nothing wrong with a little winter bonding.
If there is no human, no moving animal or no wings, then my dog is well behaved and an absolute angel to walk with!
@Magnussie I think I am also known as "being towed by a choc lab".
@snowbunny is so right about them . Even if my "angel" ๐Ÿ™„ had no distractions he would also do something idiotic to make me laugh. That is why I love him so much.
