Introducing Jacob

I occasionally call Reuben Sam by mistake , he responds as normal xx
My Dad calls Carbon "Brogan" about half the time. He knows Carbon isn't Brogan, it's just the name that comes into his mind. I don't mind at all - it just means Brogan really left his mark. 😊

One of Brogan's names was "Bear Bear" and somehow that's turned into "Boops" for Carbon as nothing about Carbon resembles a bear. But "Boops"? Why?! It's like I started to say "Bear", remembered who I was talking to and added a "Oops". Poor dog can't even catch a break for his nickname.

Though to be fair, he has the other glorious nicknames - used much more frequently - of Carboncito Bandito and Señor Grumpypantalones. That makes up for everything really. 😂

My ex German landlord's father (how's that for needlessly convoluted?) has a Jack Russell named "Balu". I really like that name, but I have to admit that every time he'd pull out a new photo to show me, I would be surprised to see a little Jack Russell!

Just checking your thoughts on this, I didn't move or intervene as just wanted to see what was playing out.does Monty look stressed at all, or just a bit wary? He made the choice to move away just after I stopped filming both of these clips, though stayed close by on the lawn

Little Man is looking awfully relaxed and happy.

However Monty is starting to get that "When is it going home?" look. 😂

pee ess - wrote the above just based on the photo before you posted your videos. Though I was joking, I do think Monty - true gentleman that he is - may be a bit tired of the whole puppy thing in that moment. Nothing serious, just a bit of puppy fatigue. A lot of changes for all of you in just a few days! 😊

What's frustrating is we are giving Monty all these separate spaces to rest where puppy can't get to him, but he's choosing( and whining and barking if necessary) to be wherever he is, no doubt because that's where one of us are. Apart from pen and crate time when he ignores puppy altogether for an hour or so. Early days, I know,

It will take a few days for Monty to truly accept that Bear ( ? ) has come to stay but to me, it all looks good . When we first had Reuben , Nelly would certainly let him know if she was peed off with him , so yes, all good xx

I think we / I also need to remember that in the past few months Monty's life has changed so much. Up unti mid January, he had more time home alone, interspersed with a range of dog walkers, family, day care, neighbours and their dogs, he left the house most days for all or part of the day, but also had so much more downtime.
Then Geoff was at home all day, and by mid march so was I. He was definitely being a bit more needy and attention seeking in the last couple of months before puppy arrived.

I don't see anything worrying here at all. You know your boy better than anyone, though, so if you feel he's a bit uncomfortable, encourage him into his safe place. He may not know that's an option. Maybe spend some time reinforcing him for being there, so it's an extra special place for him.
I love how pupper is so comfortable with Monty that he wants to cuddle up - so sweet!
