Yes, we are using a place board, I've never done this before and I was reluctant at first. Now I see the benefit of the place board! I have a large board as he is a very big boy....

I'll try to explain although I don't know the right English words.....But I hope you know what I mean....
The advantages are:
Give him rest by sitting on it.
Learning to sit right next to my leg
Learning steadiness
Learning how to come for

Finished the basics in gundog training last week....And we will continue the training. I am not doing only gundog training but also obedience. For obedience the exam is in two weeks time

Well done, did you find it interesting? I am doing a course at the moment, every other week for an hour, have only two more lessons to go. We don't get certificates though There used to be loads of obedience classes when I had my earlier dogs, but nothing now unfortunately.

Yes, I like gundog training very much! Also to see that Odin likes it soooo much! He is too eager and I have to calm him down, otherwise he is getting the dummy out of the water before the other dog whose turn it is to retrieve....

I like to do obedience for the normal things in life....So teach him to listen and how to interact with other dogs.

Well done. I need to find a gun dog trainer for Stanley as he's not very good at retrieving and bringing back. I need to start his obedience classes again now we are back from holiday. I think he has lost his ears somewhere between here and France.

We had water training for first time last week (and only time as no water locally) at some fishing lakes and Flicka was in the water before I could blink! She adores water and is in any stream she can find, we just need a lake! She was very good and swam across the water to an island to get the dummy and back again.

I seem to remember that ear loss is quite a feature of Labrador adolescence!
Not with Joy though, of course not she's always been a Goodgirl!
