Lake District

We’re going to the lakes in a couple of weeks with Devil dog and I’ve been looking at options of places to stay.

Usually we hire a cottage, lodge etc but we’re only going for a couple of nights so just decided on a hotel.

I can find lots of dog friendly hotels - however, I can’t seem to find one where dogs are allowed in for breakfast. Is this usual?

They all seem to say dogs aren’t allowed to stay in the rooms unsupervised and are not allowed in the breakfast room, guests usually prefer to leave them in the car where they’re more comfortable.

Obviously, I will NOT be doing that and will just go out for food, but I just wondered if that’s standard in doggy hotels? Seems a bit strange to call themselves dog friendly!

We haven't stayed in many hotels with Harv but the restriction is usually 'not in the restaurant area'. This is usually a separate area to the breakfast room. There are lots of cafes in the Lake District so I'm sure you'll be able to find an alternative breakfast venue.

Whereabouts are you staying? We've just come back from a week in Ambleside.

I saw your photos - it looked lovely. Fingers crossed we get similar weather!

We’re going to Keswick. I’ve booked a hotel with no extra charge for dogs to go towards breakfast 😏

We've stopped at a few hotels up there. Most places don't seem to like dogs in the breakfast room. Keswick Country House was quite strict on dogs being left unattended (at least on paper) but diodn't do much to enforce it as many guests ignored the rule. The Britannia Inn (Elterwater) and Bridge Inn (near Wasdale) were very relaxed about leaving dogs in rooms over breakfast.
