Boy, do I know THAT look. I'm getting slightly better at heading it off, but mostly it's...It's something about the open space, and groups of dogs appearing in the distance, that just make him ignore my bellowing and go charging off for a joyful, boisterous meet and greet.
And if it had been Ripple he’d have eaten it .You have seen the grainy photos of Lilly half a mile down the beach rolling in a dead seal carcass??
Oh yes. There was a dead bird up on the sand dunes at one stage but luckily Steve crash tackled him just before he pounced. UGHYou’re definitely not alone in having problems on the beach @Lab_adore , and Ripple will run off anywhere he thinks there might be a free meal of something disgusting .
He IS good - when he knows we're training recall. Real life? A bit more hit and miss, but his brain just sort of dribbles out his ears when he gets excited - I do get that.I think Carbon was so good! Apart from a couple of 'oopsies' - you have done an amazing job @Emily_Babbelhund
Unfortunately the tackles are always random so I don't have the camera readyI have this image of Steve being rolled in it instead of Maxx as he tries to escape out of the tackle. I am still trying to imagine all these tackles that Steve does with Maxx...we could do with a video...
Echo is the same. When he’s working or training he’s amazing. He could become a Guide Dog right now and not go much wrong. During down time he’s weird, crazy, loopy, deaf to commands, gallops like a horse, puts his paws on your shoulders, shoves his nose in your lap until you fuss him - you name it. I secretly like loopy juice Echo much more than ‘I’m an angel dog’ Echo. He’s such great fun!He IS good - when he knows we're training recall. Real life? We all have to have time off, so does CarbonOn the other hand, if someone saw him in the hospital or in the airplane last year, or helping me up and down stairs, they'd probably never believe that he runs down the beach like his legs aren't connected and eats sheep poo
I agree. Chewie is also a complete oaf at the beach. He zooms around like a lunatic licking everything in sight and has no recall.I think something happens to dogs on the beach. Stanley loses his shit. He joined a little family in their tent for a picnic once
