Maybe Harvey's not a labrador?

This morning I left this small pile of treats (ready for some training) on the coffee table and nipped upstairs (I'm not a morning person and clearly wasn't thinking!). When I came back downstairs they were all still there!!

I think Harvey’s playing the long game - lulling you into a false sense of security so that you’ll start leaving out a roast chikkin here, a leg of lamb there... he’s definitely a Labrador, but he’s also a matter of strategy!

Not Echo, he’d sweep them off in front of my nose! And he’s not a Labrador!

Harley would of left them too.......but she couldn’t resist the ham on my dinner plate last week when I answered the door! Harvey is such a good boy

We have, on the odd occasion left crackers on a plate overnight , Reuben never touches them but as soon as we get up , he will snaffle them

Plate would have appeared polished as if it had never been used. Molly would be licking her lips and doing that guilty thing with her ears

I think Cassie would leave that, if it's on a plate that I'd put down, but stuff left on the worktop in the kitchen is fair game, apparently !!

Molly doesn't take food left on low tables - and come to think of it neither did Rolo (Lab) or Jessie (cocker spaniel), but my first dog Penny (springer spaniel) thought that any food within grabbing distance was hers. She once stole my husband's grandmother's chicken dinner!

Maisy would have left it on the low coffee table, but (thanks to my MIL) would probably pinch it off the plate if you were holding it.

All of mine would have scarfed it in a nanosecond. Even Ginny would have detached herself from the sofa to snaffle it. I think that's brilliant, but I'm a bit peculiar

I'm still mystified that my toast plate can be so attractive when I put it into the dishwasher. Wispa always hears me open the dishwasher when I've finished my breakfast and appears to pre-wash the (invisible) crumbs from it very diligently!

Homer won’t take anything from the coffee table in the living room. He has stollen eggs, my glasses case and chocolate brownies from the kitchen table. Not much in his eight years.

I just never leave anything within reach. It's probably to do with having had Labradors for about thirty years by now, it's just totally ingrained to never ever leave temptation there. That's why Joy is so good, she just never gets a chance not to be! ....Poor little sweetheart!

Nor do I. It’s a good reason to sit at the table to eat, too - eating from a tray on my lap would never work!
