Mud - HOW do you manage?!

Do you think there's any link to the fact that you've often said she runs hot, has thick fur, and mud would be very cooling?
Yes, but...

...it’s not hot here when we start out in the mornings. I’m wearing a T-shirt, fleece, and a down gilet. If she sees a mud hole at the start of a walk, she gets just as excited as at the end. Same with Ginny - she has been taught well by The Hippo 😂

Fair enough, she just loves mud 🤣🤣
I'm blessed with a paddler not a wallower🙂

Waiting for it to dry is the best way wherever possible, be it carpet or dog😁

The only time I ever had an issue with mud is at my mum and dad's place. If the dam water is starting to drop, there's thick clay at the bottom and Ella will lie in it. The clay just sticks through her coat. Washing it off doesn't really work so I usually have to wait until it's dry and brush it out.

We must have the prissiest Lab in the universe. He NEVER gets mucky. It does probably help that we have sandy Australian soil and not British mud, and that it is mostly warm enough for him to dry off and just wipe clean but seriously... this is a Lab who walks around muddy puddles.

We have the bog of eternal stench on our most regular walk.

It’s rotten and Stanley loves it.

I put him on his lead to walk past now - *mean mam*.

But I can’t cope with anymore eye infections which I’m pretty sure are from that disgusting smelly water!

Hattie and Charlie never roll in mud, the only mud that we deal with is from walking across crops in Hampshire. When we move to Scotland we will have barely any. I don't think I could deal with a dog covered in mud o_O x

Holly has muddy moments, generally from zoomies through puddles or from investigating occasional boar wallows. To try to keep her (and the house, car etc) clean I try to take her back via a clean stream or pool for a rinse. I also keep a cheap water spray in the car so I can soak any mud and rub it off with an old towel. This is also useful for getting rid of fox poo, as I keep a small bottle of fox shampoo in the boot.

In spite of all these precautions we still have a really dirty carpet. When OH washed it last week the water was filthy.
