From the minute I saw her I fell in love with her. I drove all the way to Dartmoor to collect her and there she was, the only golden girl lab and 6 black brothers. She ran over them all to get to the food.
She howled all the way home, which was about 100 miles. I sang to her, nursery rhymes and there once was a doggie in the window. I had just retired and spent very happy days with my lovely puppy. She was as bright as a button. There were a few times we stood out in the snow at 2 am for her wee and poo. We changed our holidays and rented cottages in Ireland and the UK and we have taken her everywhere with us, never left her, other than for a few hours during the day. We've had the mud bathing, the fox poo rolling, the raiding of picnics, stealing the grandkids crisps and biscuits, and eating anything dead. She greets everyone with a wagging tail and smiley face. As she has got older (almost 12) she is a bit stubborn and we let her lead us were she wants to go. She has loved swimming all her life, and would run like the wind after balls and frisbies, she was great at football. I talk to her as if she is a human and she knows what I am saying. She is a grand old lady gives me the stare, you know when they sit in front of you and move their eyes in the direction they want you to go. When I wink at her, she winks back. So I know one day we will have to say goodbye, but for now make the most of everyday with her. I cannot imagine life without her.
