I'm sure I speak for all of us Kate, when I say that you, Paul, Nelly and Ruben are a very important part of our MLF family and we will do whatever we can to help and support you through this difficult time, because that's what families do.xxx
This exactly. You wonderful people really helped so much when Steve was at his worst with his illness

Oh friends , the friend of the mastiff owner has messaged me with the full name of the owner ! She says she hates what her friend has done and can no longer keep her as a friend . So , I have found her profile , , she is local and so I will contact the police tomorrow , at least there will be some justice for Nelly xxx Obviously, although its tempting , I am not contacting her myself , it would alert her to the fact that I know her name etc .I`ll leave it to the Police to visit . Ironic though , that she says she cant pay, but as well as owning this damned dog , she also breeds French Bulldogs and currently has some for sale, humm xxx
I hoped she might have a change of heart she was kind during the incident. Let the police take it now Kate and a dog warden if you have one. Also tell all your local dog walking friends let her feel the shame. And as for being a Frenchy breeder I know you probably have the same opinion of that as me. I think it sums up her character.

If your dog is attacked by another dog in the UK, the law considers whether the owner of the attacking dog adequately controlled their dog. The owner could be charged with allowing their dog to be dangerously out of control, which can result in: A fine of up to £5,000, A jail sentence of up to 6 months, Destruction of the dog, A ban on future dog ownership, and No more walks.

The police do have powers

It’s despicable that she hasn’t taken responsibility for her actions and her dog’s actions. I’m guessing she has the money to pay but was pulling the pity card by saying she needs to take a loan. And of course, by paying, she admits responsibility.

Hopefully the police will take appropriate action and she will be banned from breeding and from ever owning a dog.

I wonder whether you can make a claim against her in the Small Claims Court and have her pay you costs and damages?

Re small claims court, I don’t think there are costs for the person making the claim?
Nelly needs help now, but I know what you mean. I hope she get the full fine of £5,000.

For ref only
