New Toffee Thread

Aargh, Toffee pooed in his crate again this morning when I popped him in there so I could have my shower. That's at least once a day now he either poos on the floor or in the crate despite my best efforts at taking him out.

He's such a skinny looking thing, but weighed in at 14kg on Monday, that I haven't worried about the extra food he's having for training and in Kongs. Maybe I'm over feeding him and it's just coming out the other end . He does seem to go about 5 times a day now.

He doesn't eat all the rubbish that Ripple used to as a puppy (and still does) so it's not that. He's still got trouble with one anal gland so I'm trying to keep his poos a good quality. Just going to calculate how much I am actually feeding him.

If you over-feed a pup, it tends to come out quite runny, so if he's slim and his poos are well-formed, I wouldn't think it's that he's being over-fed.
They are well-formed, there just seem to be so many of them, a definite increase over the last couple of weeks. I know I'm feeding him more because I'm doing quite a bit of training, perhaps it's all ok then. Just a case of being even more vigilant taking him out.

I've now managed to get Ripple and Toffee together in the crash proof crate in the car. I've been working on it for a while, firstly just sitting together and then very short journeys (5 minutes). Today I went out with my daughter and the dogs to some woods, then to a cafe, then back home. Probably a maximum of 20 minutes together in the car, but in and out several times. There was a little bit of quiet bitey face, occasional barking, and a little bit of squabbling but I threatened to sing 'the wheels on the bus' and they quietened down .
Progress I think .

It's quite interesting as indoors things get out of hand quickly so I thought a confined space would be worse. But I suppose because it's a journey with a purpose so they're conscious of what's coming.
Indoors has got a lot better though, but I did have to break up a developing situation this morning with a 'scatter' of cheese - the first thing that came quickly to hand.

Discovered this morning that Toffee has been eating his way through the rubber mat in the car crate. He's very neatly reinstated the vet bed before I open the boot so I don't notice. Unfortunately this morning he still had a piece of rubber sticking out of his mouth when I opened the boot - you've been rumbled Toffee :hmm:.
