Nipple - to be removed :(

Glad all went well and he is back home. Hopefully you get the results soon and they are positive news.
I would use a cone as don't want to have to go back.
Both ours always cry after, but Honey will fight the anesthetic and they always need to monitor her during the op and give more....

Thanks for the enquiries after Snowie. Thankfully no more whimpering or awful sounds. Just his usual chatter. Very happy this morning. But he licked off the plaster (just a clear plastic) in the night!!! Still stuck on one end, and I didn’t want to rip it off, was stuck firmly over the stitches on that end. Massive incision. The vet is no plastic surgeon!! Can’t believe I initially thought it was a tiny incision—was looking at completely the wrong thing! Anyway, I cut off the plaster that wasn’t sticking and painted over the wound with some betadine (povidone iodine) and applied a dressing. Not sticking too well. But he’s not trying to lick it. Also gave him his pain meds/anti inflammatory—Previcox. Been out for the shortest walk just to make a poo (normally won’t poo in the garden—teeny strip around the pond). My husband took him and reported back that the poo was so huge that he had to double bag it! Now he’s fast asleep.

Snowie woke us up twice in the night to wee. But generally we all slept well.

Will phone the vet now about going in to get a new dressing and a cone.

Poor Snowie, hope he's feeling better today. The noise and crying after the anaesthesia is heartbreaking but thankfully doesn't usually last too long. I totally agree with @SwampDonkey about limiting walks to just short wee breaks and using a cone when you can't watch him. The cones are a pain for them, but combined with delicious chicken, they get much less of a pain (that's a tip from Carbon ;) ).

Sending you both lots of

pee ess: just saw your update - glad he's a happier boy this morning! ❤

Went to the vet today to get a new dressing. She was happy with the wound and said no dressing needed. Not what my plastic surgeon said when I had a lipoma removed! Had to keep the micropore on for 3 months so as not to scar.

The wound is very long. She said it’s always difficult to close a round hole and the wound ends up being long. But it is so long!

She said no point worrying about what it is until we get the results.

And still no cone. Also, she said she hadn’t heard of a medisuit for males. Yes for females after a spay. She said unless he’s really nibbling the stitches, then no cone. She said she could see no evidence Snowie had been fiddling with the stitches.

And we can give him 3/4 paracetamol at night. We noticed that as soon as he had the pain meds this morning, he stopped trying to lick the wound. So I think a paracetamol at night will help him sleep through the night.

My husband and I felt far more reassured after the vet visit. And Snowie is very happy today.
