Not sure this is the right place.

Today feels different, Mike has finally gone. My vet's wife took me out which was cheering and helped.

The funeral, in a strange way was uplifting. I cried when the hearse came up the church path and we gathered round it, but before that I stood on the steps into the church and welcomed people in. I cried when we sang the hymns, but otherwise I managed to get through it and several people said how stoical I was, but I think it is due to a feeling of unreality. The vicar was very good, he is new to the parish and visits, the last one, a female vicar, was here for 10 years and even though the church is probably about 100yds from our house, I never saw her. It was good that he had made a relationship with Mike and had visited him in hospital and the home and this was reflected in what he said in the funeral. He also likened himself to the size of the Vicar of Dibley as one of the hymns was the signature tune to the Vicar of Dibley :) I had a Gregorian chant for Mike to go into the church with as we always played it at Christmas, and Carmina Burana to go out as Mike liked that. xx

Thank you Kate as I think the worst is yet to come so I am told.
I wouldn't say the worst is yet to come, nor would I say it gets easier now. It's a process that is particular and personal to each of us who are going through it and we all will have good and bad days, sometimes for very obvious reasons, at other times for reasons that appear totally unfathomable. I have found that the best thing is just to kind of try to ride with it. The bad days, crying and grieving need to be done, they're part of the healing bit. Let good days happen too though, remember that you deserve them and that Mike would surely want you to have them.xxx

I love Gregorian chants. Carmina Burana was also a favourite of Trevor's and mine. Currently listening to the radio, Classic FM. Thinking about you still, wondering how you are, cuddling my little Joy, finishing my glass of wine and thinking 'Teeth and bed next!'
Goodnight. You remain in my thoughts.xxx
