Not too bad a night , amazingly !

The leaving him went ok ! Debbie came over ten minutes after we left , stood in the porch , silence so she left . She came over twenty minutes later , whimpering so she left . Ten minutes before we got home, she came over and he was crying, so she came in and let him out , made a coffee and stayed for the final fifteen minutes , so not too bad for a first xx

He is doing so well Kate and I'm loving reading all about him. You write so well that I can easily picture what is going on.
I wish Maxx would sleep until 6.00am...now that it is light so early his new EVERYONE UUUUUP time is 5.10am :hmm:

Last night , Reuben and Nelly were manic but in a nice way ! Up and down the hallway , round and round the sitting room , endless play which is lovely to see especially as Nelly is often the instigator ! He slept pretty well last night, in the drawer under the bed of course , waking me at 4.30 for a wee , then back to bed , he whinged for a few minutes, then clambered into " his " drawer and went back to sleep until 6.30 , cant grumble at that ! He has a visitor today , Carbon ! Thankfully its dry , so I will let them play in the big garden , supervised due to the ponds ! x

Have also learned to put my feet up when he takes a nap !
This is a vital survival technique I remember it well!
Brings back the memory of time I fell asleep when she had and woke up to the sound of Cassie enthusiastically slurping my white wine which I'd left on the floor! (I know, I told you all this before, but it was funny:)). She was all of 9 weeks!
I hasten to add, it wasn't day time drinking, the sun had gone over the yardarm!

Reuben was absolutely shattered after Carbon and Emily left , he slept or dozed most of the evening , and I thought to myself that I would pay for this peace at some unworldly hour of the morning but no , bed at 11 and despite a little whinging , he nodded off in his drawer and stayed there until 6.30 , wonderful ! Mornings are manic , Nelly has found her inner playful puppy and its Game On , big time ! Nelly then goes off to school with Debbie and Silas , and as now , its blissfully peaceful for an hour or so ! He is improving in the car , no screaming ,just a bit of noise for a minute , then he has a nap ! The only problem we have is that he keeps picking up the gravel stones on our patio area and there is no way I can fence it off . I`m working on Leave , offering him a swap , Sam did exactly the same , it stopped when he started to go out for walks , so hopefully Reuben will too xx

Luna was a nightmare with picking up gravel too, and she did grow out of it. Luckily it was only when we visited my parents, so not as much of a problem as it would have been if it was my house. I do remember a suggestion on the other site about scatter feeding on the gravel. Then Reuben might realise the gravel itself isn't that exciting, but there may be food in there to snuffle out. It depends on the size of the gravel, though - I wouldn't want to risk him accidentally ingesting a piece of gravel thinking it was kibble.

Xena was a nightmare for river stones until well after 1. She'd bring them in, stretch out on the floor and just let the stone roll around her mouth. After initially panicking when she was a puppy (I didn't know any better) I just left her to it. She still occasionally carries a stone around, it's bloody weird.

Oh the gravel, Hattie did this for a long time until I had a reliable 'drop' she would then spit it out and now never touches it. It will all come in time but Reuben sounds like a little star xx

Love that he sleeps in the drawer. Reminds me of bathing all my babies in our china kitchen sink! :giggl: x

Another good night , bed at 10.45 , he slept until 6.45 . Then , we swapped dogs ! Paul has been sleeping in the spare room with Nelly on the bed , so bless him ( for once ! ) he took Reuben and left Nelly with me , she likes a lie in ! Oh it was wonderful , I didn't get up until 8 , by which time the boy had been fed and taken out several times ! He doesn't have accidents in the night, so he tiddles loads of times once he wakes up , and for once Paul had been vigilant , he done good !
We seem to have a pattern emerging , mornings are manic , Nelly being the main instigator , then blissful peace for an hour ( right now ) both asleep, then they potter about , gearing up for the second manic time , early evening . I am having to intervene at times , if it gets too rough , not that Nelly minds but I worry about her getting hurt , which is maybe overkill on my part because she does tell him off if he oversteps the mark . Going to have a little training session with him on his own in the garden , he does a lovely sit and is slowly getting the hang of stay , so armed with treats we will do some recall, just for a few minutes xxx
