Ok who swapped my dog?!?!

I wasn't sure where to post this in behaviour or health as it fits both although I think behaviour is the most surprising.

Tuesday morning Scout had sudden pain/cramp. I wasn't sure exactly where or why. We were nearly home from our walk and he suddenly shot forward like he'd been kicked. I couldn't decide if it was pain from maybe standing on something awkwardly or if he'd been spooked. He did it a couple of times and then was ok. In the house he got on the couch to sleep after about half an hour he suddenly got off and circled the couch a few times obviously in some sort of pain. He then got back on the couch. This happened three times the third time his whole body was tense and he was squeaking. I rang the vet for two reasons. One he was in pain and I knew I'd be up all night with him if it carried on and two Scott had unexplained pain on three occasions starting a couple of months before his kidneys started to fail. The third time it happened was four days before his kidneys packed in. My vets has recently opened a new surgery about an extra 10 minutes from us. They couldn't fit us in at the main surgery but we could go to the new one. Coincidentally I'd heard recently it was much quieter than the main one and it certainly was. My appointment was 2pm we were seen at 1.40pm !!! Early at our vets is unheard of. Scout was amazing !!! As it was so quiet, empty in fact after the little dog before me had left, I took Scout inside !!! He didn't bother at all !!! He stood still while the vet examined him throughly. She manipulated every joint including his neck which she bent all the way down, up and side to side. Scout has a recurring injury in his back left leg caused by an altercation with two dachshunds last summer which he tried to run away from. She said all his joints were fine so I asked about his cruciate in that leg. She then manipulated hip and knee joints in both legs by picking them up so Scout was basically doing a hand stand but he didn't bother. Again she said they were perfect. Even his prostate was ok which I was surprised about as its over twelve months since he had Ypozane. Then she took bloods. The nurse came in to help hold him still. Two strangers in a confined space near him and touching him with no problem. I held his head while the vet shaved his neck and took the blood she had to dig about a bit with the needle because she couldn't find the vein and still Scout didn't bother. She was kneeling in front of him practically in his face !!! No way would Scott have kept still and quiet through all that. Scout didn't even grumble under his breath. Admittedly he was completely shut down and as stiff as a statue. The vet commented on how good Scout was being she's dealt with my dogs before. On the way out he stood nicely on the scales like he did it regularly and waited nicely by me while I paid. That was a first too usually it would be straight in the car actually he'd have been seen in the car. It was unbelievable my little monster behaved like an angel :angel:albeit a terrified angel. :scared:The vet should've rung me the next day with the results but as seems to be the norm with my vets she didn't. I rang them Thursday. The vet I'd seen wasn't in but Hillary, my vet of choice, rang me back and I'm very pleased to report Scout's bloods came back fine all ok. Never have I been so pleased to be proven to be a neurotic dog owner. Of course I don't actually know what was wrong with him but thankfully by the next day he was back to normal. He's had a full MOT and passed. £96 well wasted I'd say. Until the next time.

What a good lad for you and the vet. Sorry he is not himself, but hopefully everything will be back to normal now.

Glad to hear he is ok and can understand your worry, I would have done the same. Could it have been a fly or something stinging his backend? That might cause the flinching and then the discomfort.
