Old cocker spaniel

Hello 👋

I thought I would join and post my experience of life with my elderly Daisy.
She has been on fluxotene for anxiety for the last 3 years . She can also take Xanax as an additional if and when needed. This is used very rarely.
Before the fluxotene she ruled the house. Anything and everything would distress her . Ie football on the television, buzzing on game shows , grandchildren playing . I had to change my vet to get medication for her, but thankfully a new vet and the combination of old age hearing loss, she is much more content now .

She is on metacam and paracetamol plus gabapentin for arthritis which had worked well until last month. Over the course of a week her pain had become impossible to control . I was up all night 6 weeks ago, she was distressed. After an emergency vet appointment that morning we discussed quality of life. As a last resort we tried librela. At first I didn’t notice any improvement. She still In pain one morning I woke to find her so distressed I rang the vet to come to the house, and put her to sleep, the appointment was booked for 2pm.

During the course of that long morning, something changed in her demeanour her tail wagged and she went in the garden and sunbathed. She also ate her food. Long story short the vet was cancelled I am convinced the librela had kicked in.

She has now had her second injection with number 3 booked for mid August. I literally take everyday as a bonus with her. It is not a miracle cure but she is far more comfortable and is enjoying life again . I would recommend librela to anyone I am open minded it may not work for ever. But for know it is. Sorry for the long post but I thought I would post a positive review, as it may encourage someone else to try it .
