On the Road Again…

The smell in the rose garden was amazing, even though the blooms a little past their best.

The gardens are being restored and renovated with some areas complete and others a work in progress.
It was very serene.

Had a snoozy, book reading afternoon and shortly going to collect OH who has been heading up from Norwich since this morning. They eventually found fuel otherwise not sure what they were going to do!

Yup.
I was knackered.
And wet.
And pi$$ed off at yet another fenceline with no gates or Stiles or path now heading uphill......

Cafe training continues.



Have picked up Granny from Penrith station and stuffed ourselves with a late lunch in a dog-friendly cafe with complimentary Bonios.
Think it may be a home made dinner, hoping it won't be me-made

Been on Lake Windemere yet for a nice cruise? Stop of at the Ferry House, which I think is the big white one by the lake about half way down?
Always hire a boat or Kayak ??

We used to love to go to Chester's by the River just outside Ambleside at Skelwith bridge.
Nice place for a coffee and cake and very dog friendly too but I guess a good hour's ride from your place?
It is Hunter's favourite place, as the walk to Elterwater is nice and flat and lots of places to get wet in the river.
Your photos are so lovely.
There is also a lovely pet shop at Windermere, Paws by the Lake if you don't fancy the kayak!

It has been raining almost all day today
We went to Keswick, still rain.
Carried on a little to The Lakes Distillery, bought a wee selection of gin and whisky to cheer us up.
Ate picnic lunch in the car, as you do when its raining.
Then we went to the DERWENT PENCIL MUSEUM! YAY!
The girls were veryverygood.

Pottered a bit on the way home then braved a half hour, mostly off lead, walk once we got back home ( in the rain....)
Havin a cuppa and a dry off now before dinner time.

If it's any consolation it's been very all day here too. But I suppose I am not on holiday!!

Years ago when my children were small there used to be a programme on TV at lunchtime with Lynda Baron in it flying round with a dog in a spotted aeroplane visiting places of interest. I remember she went to the pencil museum, but I can't recall what the programme was called.
