Parvo virus

There has been a confirmed case of Parvo in a young dog up our way. They don't know where it has originated from but it's the first confirmed case in years :'(

Parvo is horrible. Truly horrible, poor dog and poor owners. I did see a prevalence chart from last year that showed some cases in the South East, predominately around London, and the other cluster Manchester, and slightly north, plus the surrounding areas.

Cape Town has recently had a parvo scare. A dog (I’m presuming a puppy) that had never left it’s garden, died from parvo. So they believe that someone walked it in on the soles of their shoes. There were warnings to wash your shoes in bleach when coming home. We stopped walking at the identified hotspots. Snowie is vaccinated against it, and he is an adult. But still, it was a worry. Thankfully our vet said she had no cases come into her rooms, so I’m presuming that the dogs in our area are healthy and vaccinated. They are extremely pampered! :)

It was in Ayrshire, the vet's surgery posted it on FB. I read in the comments the vet saying it was a 5 month old vaccinated dog that had caught it

Ugh....both my previous dogs caught parvo, believe it or not. Both as young pups. Both had had at least their first vaccination....in fact I suspect first pooch picked it up at the vet when I took him there for his first needle. He was very, very sick but survived. Second pooch was a bit older but still got a milder case. It’s no fun at all, that’s for sure. :(
