pees in house after going out to pee

Help!

I take Trixie out to pee, and she digs the dirt at my feet, chases flies, basically everything BUT pees....then comes inside and wets on my floors. She's 16 1/2 weeks now, and this is fairly new behavior....since it got rainy. She was consistently going outside. I don't use pee pads, as I have found that with Angel she made the link that it's OK to pee on fabrics and started wetting on rugs, dog beds, etc. At least a mess in the middle of the floor can be mopped

I'm considering a penned area outside, on the patio...limit the interesting things to do

I use a spending area for pups - just paving stones, no distractions. After pee, garden freedom as a reward. Note the chair - for waits! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, that's essentially what I'm thinking of doing. For today, I'm putting her on Shamas old lead attached to the house--so she can't reach the dirt to dig, or the plants to hunt bugs. She doesn't like it much. But I'm tired of cleaning nearly all of her messes inside because she forgot to go out there.

I WAS taking her out front on lead if she didn't go out back...but she found the pebbles in the driveway, and the mulch in the flower bed. Ants under the grass. And a skunk wandering past. And FLIES.

Sigh

Also, are you absolutely neutralising inside pee smells? Simple solution is usually the best known in the UK.
Quite possibly not. I clean up with a swiffer wet and Lysol. And I noticed that she had a propensity for just inside the back and front doors, and also the place where Angel's pen was(where she messed a lot as a puppy)

She seems better about going outside since I put her on leash...she can't reach her giant hole. We had tried to stop her digging, but she's DETERMINED to dig in one spot in particular. Which to my way of thinking is better than a hundred holes all over the yard......

If it was me, I would prefer a run/confined area, as going out on the lead doesn't necessarily teach independent toileting. It would ve a pain if going forward, she would only toilet when on lead, even in the back yard.
That, and I'm also concerned about territorial instincts. Angel used to jump Shamas as he came back in the yard. He ended up waiting outside of range of the leash. I noticed that as soon as I put Trixie on a leash out there, he did the same....He's not at all comfortable with a leashed dog between him and his back door.

I have the next two days off...I don't have any stakes, but I DO have a couple of 3foot solid tree stumps still in the ground to use as support, some two by fours, and plenty of snow fence. Plus old fence boards. Possibly even an old baby gate in the shed to make an opening. It'd be very temporary, but it''d do the trick as she learns to train. And I need a new deck, so I dont want anything permanent until I know what I'm doing with that. I want to plan the deck with the dogs going out to run in mind

The spending area I put a photo of upthread is easily movable. Just cable-tie the end pieces to something.

I'm actually looking for those--I had one I bought at Petsmart, for Angel. It held up good outside. I'd want two. One behind to keep her out of the flowerbed too, since digging is her main distraction. Failing that, I could get two f the one I have here in the living room....it's not at all sturdy though
