Perfect Fit Harness

So I think I'd like to buy Ella a Perfect Fit harness. Ella is pretty good on lead (most of the time - but I do like the option of the front attachment too) but I don't like how her lead bangs on her front leg as I think it makes her walk funny.

As I can only order from the UK, I'd love to get the measurements right first time so that I don't have to ship too and from the UK to swap pieces. I've measured Ella's girth at 76-77cm and when I put the details into their calculator is says I have two options:

20mm L-M-XL Perfect Fit Harness
(74-86cm)

40mm L-M-L Perfect Fit Harness
(74-93cm)

I'm leaning towards the 20mm size as Ella is 25kg and quite slender but I'm really interested in what sizes other people have gone with? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think 40mm is too thick for a Labrador unless they're really heavily built. 20mm suits all of mine, even the hippo that is Squidge.
I would be very surprised if Ella has an XL piece for girth. Squidge is in L-M-L in the 20mm and it's adjusted almost as small as it goes. Having had a few pieces on mine replaced, I think you're best to go down a size. There is plenty of adjustment up.

I originally bought L-M-L for W&S as that's what the charts said but they ended up in M-S-L in the end.

Casper has the 40mm size I think L M L will check. 20mm would have been better for him, the 40mm means all the attachments/fittings are upscaled so quite a bulky fit.

Harv isn't big as Labs go (around 33kg) but we found the 20mm too small (like a fat middle-aged man trying to squeeze into an old pair of speedo trunks!! ;) ) and ditched it after a while and replaced it with the 40mm.

As suggested above, make contact with the supplier and get some feedback from them - perhaps send a picture of Ella in addition to measurements.

Wispa has the 40mm too and is just a bit lighter than Harvey, hovering around 30-31kg. I’m considering getting the 20mm one for Tuppence, though, as she’s a slighter build and more rangey than Wispa.

Squidge has about a 70-72cm girth. I say "about" because J is away working and has apparently taken all his tape measures with him, so I used a ribbon then roughly measured it against an A4 piece of paper! She is two long sides plus a little over half a short side :cwl:

As I said before, her harness is done up almost entirely as small as it goes, and there is lots of room for adjustment, so I'd say that same size of girth would do for Ella, too. I'll get you a slightly more accurate measurement later when J gets home and also some photos/video of Squidge in her harness.

Here's a little video of Squidge in her harness at the vet this morning!

You can see the front is too big and I have it adjusted awfully on the girth (sorry Squidge!) - on her right side it's adjusted almost as small as it goes, but on her left side it's about halfway. I'm off to measure her now.... :D

I'm about to place my order and totally freaking about about the size. The video makes it look like the harness is too big, especially big you were using the front attachment and she did pull. Do you think it is big but could be ok if you readjusted or would you buy different sizes for Luna if you were buying again?

I know, I know, I'm being a pain but I am not usually an online shopper!

There is no more room to adjust it smaller, so I would buy the next size down for her on the front piece, which would put her in L-S-L.

As it is, it's fine for her for when we do need it, because that's very rare and she doesn't pull steadily, it's more of an excited lunge every now and again.
