Pill refusal - any tips?

When desperate, F will open Red’s mouth and drop the pill in, then stroke her throat until it’s gone. It sounds cruel but he does it very gently and expertly so it’s all done in seconds. I know it‘s ok, ‘cos she will come and sit by him and let him do it. Sky used to be the same.
I have also done this with my dogs, ever so gently when all else failed and the pill was essential. I didn't enjoy it but it worked and I think I was always more upset than my sweet dog. I have never yet had to resort to this with Joy. I think most tablets for dogs are more palatable now.

This is what I did with all my dogs before Carbon, who just eats pills out of your hand. Personally I think if you do it gently but quickly and follow with some really high value treats, it is not a bad experience for the dogs at all - quite the opposite!

Carbon says that if bananas make you sick, try butterballs and corned beef like him! It's not actually butter, but Proactiv, and it's exactly 50% Proactiv/50% Corned beef. Works a charm for his liquid chemo which can cause severe stomach upset (but haven't so far with Carbon).

Maisy would leave her worming pill (more like a cube) when she was on Nexgard, I cut it up, wrapped it in all sorts of food and she just ate round it and spat it out. The only thing that worked was soaking it in warm butter for a bit.
