Poor Nelly

Nelly is in hospital , on fluids and pain relief via canula after she began to lose quite a lot of blood from her bottom this morning . She wasnt too well during the night and had refused food yesterday evening. We took her to see Sue , Nelly lost more blood in the waiting room and so Sue arranged for Nelly to be admitted to the hospital she was in after the awful attack . Nelly has to stay in over night , we are both distraught as she is so poorly . Thank you for all your well wishes xxx

I am waiting for the night nurse to ring and give an update . The Vet called me last night , she said that despite pain relief , Nelly is very distressed and sstill in some pain, especially around her rear end . She said that she had managed to carry out an examination and that she could feel something in Nellys rectum . I have told her that unless Nelly can be helped very quickly ,, we will have to let her go as I simply cannot have her in this state , she is still losing some blood . Oh dear , I am probably not making much sense here , I will update after speaking to the Vets later this morning and thanks again for all the support xx

Thank you for the update, Kate. We’re all pulling for her and for you. How strange with all her battles around the chiari that now it’s her rectum causing her such distress. So very much hoping they will tell you that this is something they can fix with medication or minor surgery.

Just a quick update . Night nurse has just rung , no real improvement I`m afraid . The Vet is going to call later , it could be mid day before she rings , so its a horrible wait for now xx
I have read that as it progresses , chiari can cause stomach/bowel issues as the swelling on the spine can create these problems xx
